Cangames - Part 2 - Saga

 Hello Folks,

Day 2 of Cangames I had set up a saga tournament, we ended up not getting many players but had some fun games anyway. Theme was Crusades + Chivalry.

Game 1: Crusader Knights vs English Clash of Warbands

English arrayed for battle. I thought it best to start with the archers forward, and went for small units of archers and larger units of hearth. This is basically my way of playing teutonic knights, let the enemy get tired and shot up fighting archers, then the real boys clean up.

Small advance fire some arrows at the knights, not much effect as english archery is bad at long range, thou you can try it.

Knights advance cautiously raining corssbow bolts.

After more shooting from me, they attack hard. Bringing 2 units below threshold for generating saga dice.

The hearth get a good hit back thou. There are some great abilities for them.

Hard to have enough dice if the knights keep killing your men thou!

I can activate 2 units to shoot, but 1 of them has 1 guy, this is possibly not good.

Nevermind hah. Solid win for Perries knights.

 Game 2 - Knights vs Saracens in Clash

Didn't follow this one as time for shopping. I decided buying the French Agincourt set was the way to go!

After a break for lunch, Korean BBQ, we got back at it.

 Game 3: Knights vs English in Capture

Not one to lean into failing plans, I did the opposite. Small units of hearth backed up by big units of archers. But Knights win.

Stakes and hearth to block, shoot em up at close ranges, much better. Also I am not passing 90% of my saves which is very helpful.

Knights get in my faces and kill a few hearth, and capture 2 objectives.

But with the Saint George ability my lads see them off.

They charge again but 1 hearth lives keeping my saga die!

Shooting becomes brutal and I control the board.

It turns out being lucky is better then being smart. So I am able to score a victory against our nemesis from the big city.

Game 4: Knights vs Saracens in Capture

Again never really kept track of this game, but after many deaths on both sides the Knights were again triumphant. It was allot close this time thou I think?

 Anyway I declared the knights to be the victors.

Thanks;

Mike

Cangames 2025 - Part 1

 Hello folks,

This past weekend was Cangames, so figured I would do a bit of a usual few posts about what I got up to there. Friday Afternoon I ran an Old West games using Dead Mans Hand so that will be the first one.

 We had 4 players, Plains Indians, Pioneers, Confederados, and Desperados. They were playing some poker at Rogan's Bar, accusations of cheating lead to a street fight. A pioneer and conferado were scared off and all sides sought reinforcements as things escalated.

Here we are part way into the third scenario where everyone is trying to kill everyone else.

The natives are coming over the bank, trying their best to stay out of the line of fire as they have no guns.

The pioneers and conferdates are blasting each other around Rogans Bar, even Rogan somehow gets in on the killing. The result there is both sides retreating due to casualties.

 The  natives kill the desperdos boss, forcing them to auto fail a big nerve test on the last turn meaning they will flee, but they are able to kill just as many to force a big nerve test on the natives. Which they fail, so all sides end up running for the hills. Peace returns to the town for another year..

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - 3rd ed 40k marines vs necrons

 Hello All,

Today was 40k day at Fandom, decided to try out Necrons again. 1500 points this time so I included the deceiver and even painted up some pariahs.

We rolled for a mission 1-3 marines 4-6 necron missions and got implacable advance. 3 objectives diwn the middle, no out flank, nice and easy.

Here's the original set up. Warriors and lord in the middle to advance down the line of objectives, other stuff off to the right.

Deciver used his deployment tricks to move the animation barge to the other side, I am really worried about the vindicated and want to blitz it 1st turn. Demolisher cannon shots leas to phasing out!

I got my first turn but failed to do real damage. Vindicator landed a shell square on the barge, so that's 245 pts animated.

My turn, assault Marines coming on the left, si the warriors have to fan out a bit. You really need to soften up the assault guys before they charge or it can be trouble. Deciver is able to charge the rhino marines who loose and fall back. Also great news vindicator wise, the immortals get a glance and destroy the cannon.

Chaplain and his buddies brutalized a warrior squad, but I was thankfully left with 2. Wiping the squad would have been huge.

Aa it is allot come back, the pariah and lord charge the assault guys and the fall back far, with like 4 guys left.

Terminators drop on my center and really badly beat up my other warriors, but again leave some survivors. Force commander comes back to try and get the spyder,forgetting he can't charge and is a bit out if position. The chaplain also decides not to charge in.

This gives me easy choices, the pariah are perfectly matched to kill terminators, and tje deciver force commanders. The no invul saves stuff is a bit brutal.

The chaplain does his charge now, but the hammers and fists swing last, si the warriors get 2 kills, banners wiff and the run again.

We play a couple more turns but the marines back is broken.

Got a bit lucky on the vindicator there, if he was able to get a shell on the lord/warriors before the termites drop in a start wrecking warriors in close combat things could have gone different.

Necrons are pretty fun, the no invulnerable saves things is a bit over the top maybe?

Thanks;

Mike
