Hello All,
Time for another Wednesday wargaming battle report. This week we are trying out the new factions for X Wing. I have the Separatist Drones, and Serge has the evil Galactic Republic.
I went for allot of the little drones this time but had to take the sith ship as well to make up the points.
Standard oiter space battle thus tine.
Deployment, I have the swarm on the right flank and the sixth on the left. Republic has some ships in the back.
Turn 2 I think, everyone, heading to the biggest republic ship. Kind of a jail strategy of attacking the biggest guy. Also the small ships are very maneuverable and have Jedi pilots and I am deeply uninterested in that mess!
First elements get into attack position. The sixth ship swung off to be a distraction. He just has a drone pilot this game. Also space was running out of there!
Huge mess 9f drones going everywhere. I managed to bring down the big guy, but my 1 good ship is getting pounded.
Belabub gies down with the Jedi flanking the drones. Things turning into a real mess. I am having a hard time keeping the drones coordinated and all firing.
Jedi start killing lots of ships which makes space so i have that going for me.
Working hard to try and kill the last non-jedi ship, but i am not having the luck. Also getting whittled down.
Next turn the last few drones get killed. So not a great day for separating!
I think the big thing is more ships are needed. Especially I need a second of the good ship, but that is not yet available separately. Will be more stuff released soon thou.
More X-Wing next week original trilogy this time.
Thanks;
Mike

Battle Report - Saga Roman Civil War
Hello Folks,
Time for another battle report. This past weekend I was over at Duncand to work on some terrain, but we also squeezed in a game of Saga. Decided to do the Roman civil war we have talked about for awhile, I used the last r9mams board, and Duncan had the A&A Roman's.
Scenario was a cattle raid. There are 6 loot tokens I need to move to my side.
Inital deployment, I got my full force, but Duncan only got 4 points, including the dreaded cataphracts.
Turn 1 I just move up to get closer to the loot.
Turn 2 more moving and ineffectual archery for me. But the cataphracts moved up and crushed a unit. Hmm...
Next turn more shifting and shooting. Next time the cataphracts charged I forced them to the other mounted unit. Starting to chip away but I am bleeding units. On my turn I got desperate and charged in my warlord. But was not lucky and he died. Starting to look at going for a draw now so I just need to control 3 loot.
Next turn the cataphracts kill the last of my mounted. But are down to just 4 guys.
Finally i decide to grab the loot which causes the rest of the bad Roman's to show up.
They charge all over the board which is bad.
It gets to a point where i just need my 3 units to live to draw so I fall back into the woods and withdraw. Have a few defensive abilities.
My plan mostly worked, 1 unit was safe in the woods, and no one could reach the guys on the right flank. But in the center I forgot to use my defensive ability and they just barely all died!
So a narrow loss for the last Roman's. Was a fun game thou.
Thanks;
Mike

Battle Report - Muskets and Tomahawks
Hello Folks,
This past Wednesday o got a chance to try out a game of Muskets and Tomahawks. Basically to try it out and get to know the rules a bit before cangames.
I had the French and Serge had some Natives. We are just below 200 points which is the suggested amount for a game.
We rolled for scenario based on army types, mine was Irregular and Native obviously for the Natives. My objective was to scout, get a guy in each of the 4 corners then have a my army retreat. The Natives got slaughter so they had to kill civilians, so some civilians were added in. I used old west ones as that is all I had.
I'm sure I took more pictures but my phone disagrees and says there is only 3.
First turn. I have the civilians look for shelter in the flower garden, backed up by my main units. Some smaller units try to run up the flanks to get in the other table quatets. My hope is the natives won't be to interested.
Turn 2, the Natives have murdered 1 group of civilians and are headed to the next. But they are taking fire and not many are left to di the job. On the left flank my guys behind the housexsre close to crossing. On the right they are meeting stiff resistance.
Next turn lots of clean up. My guy made it past the hedge to scout the third zone so not quite all 4. Despite a valiant effort all the civilians were killed. It really came down to the morale card, but sadly it came up after the natives got there business completed.
It was very close to being a draw, but turned out a win for the natives. I was no where close to getting my objective thou hah.
Was a fun game thou, very simple mechanics in general, so should be great for the con. We are planning more star wars next week but probably will try more of this sooner rather then later.
Thanks;
Mike

Battle Report - Star Wars X-Wing
Hello All,
This week Wednesday wargaming is back! A couple of weeks ago they released some new fleets for x-wing, based off the prdguil trilogy. I picked up a few of the Sepratists (droids) to try out, Serge had some new rebels to try out, namely A-Wings.
Decided to go for another planet based battle so this one is on a red moon. Stone pillars take the place of asteroids but are treated the same.
Here is the set up, I have Darth maul, general greevius, and 2 drones. Facing chewbacca, 2 A-w8ngs and an X-wing. My plan is for everyone to jump on the falcon and bring him down fast. Experience tells me they are to hard to kill at the end.
Turn 1 everyone just flies forward.
Turn 2 jump into the action. All my guys swing to shoot the falcon and pretty much down its shields. A droid launches a swarm on an A-Wing but the falcon shoots it off. Overall pretty good for me.
Turn 2 not so much, there is a bit of a scramble. In the end both droids go down in 1 turn, and very early which is bad. But keeping good pressure on the falcon.
Next turn trying to keep things going. Chasing the falcon around the rock is proving tough for maul, but he almost kills the a-wing. Greevious gets stuck with stress but is doing well.
Next turn the chase of the falcon continues. Not to much to say really. It's hard to add up the dafecwith only 2 ships, allot of offensive power is gone.
Next turn the falcon flips and greevious turns to get back into things. Maul is starting to feel the heat now thou.
Running out of space! Lots of collisions this turn.
Maul fails to kill the falcon, and is destroyed, but he got the falcon down to 1 hit. Same for an a-wing. But just have gerrvious to do it now.
The rebels surround greevious while an a-wing rolls out of range.
More chances for greevious to bring down the falcon but luck is not on my side. Greevious is really hurting now.
Greevious got 1 more chance but still couldn't get that lady damage and was easily killed by so many shots.
Have it a good go, but wasn't able to recover from loosingx2 ships so early. I enjoyed the droids thou. Greevious was a real star and maul was fun, the small droids are a bit easy to kill thou. Have to be careful with those I guess.
Thanks;
Mike
