Playing in a lord of the rings tournament today! Decided to take Denethor and Gandalf representing the moment where crazy denethor is trying to burn 🔥 things...
Game 1: Relic vs Wood Elves
Ok well the relic is in the middle of helms deep, just inside the gate. My first mistake was letting the elves start inside. Anyway my guys ready to March in.
Second mistake I didn't think to March until turn 2, so the elves got to the relic first and I'm kind of stuck in the gate.
Citadel Guard trying to fight in while the guys outside get peppered with arrows. Gandalf has blinding light but I can't shoot back dye to elven cloaks.
Gandalf getting close, when he can he blasts elves off the battlements so getting some kills.
Starting to break in.
Most heroes are dead by now.
Forced my way in, but the relic is long gone. So elves win.
My secret mission was to protect pippin, so at least got that!
Game 2: vs Hunt for Gollum in death end
Main objective this time is murder. Denethor is not to haply with aragorn and the rangers. Fun interaction with the secret objectives this time. You can pick 3 to try and bluff a bit then secretly choose 1. Denethor nominates a duel with him and Aragorn, capture a building, or Worthy Leader where he has to not get hit.
Advancing up, the rangers hanging out shooting.
Shooting back and forth, not yo much effect. Gandalf the White and Gandalf the grey exchanging smells as well.
Gandalf getting in there and manages to break grey Gandalf staff! Meanwhile Denethor and a few guys, the min you need to capture a building hang out with the building.
Getting close, a few guys break right to fight a ranger. Denethor goes crazy and trys to kill pippin, lucky for me he wins but no wounds.
Gandalf the grey sire about his staff traps Gandalf the White and kills him.
Rangers killing lots of gindor men.
Chasing down that 1 ranger.
Denethor caught him and gave him the torch.
Gandalf knocking people around.
Eventually aragorn and his pals kill enough and my force breaks.
Buy denethors bluff worked, he was trying ti remain unwounded and prove he's a worthy leader all along! Another secret objective win.
Game 3: Assination vs Radagasy and Eagles
Arrayed fur battle. Gandalf has to kill that close eagle, and Gwahir has to kill Beregond. My secret is to capture the middle.
Gandalf blasts his target and all the arrows go out, getting me a wound, but radagast heals it.
Eagles swapping to bases to make it easier to play. Gandalf target charges him, and Gwahir eats pippin!
Gandalf and his men surround the target eagle, while gwahir jumps on and murders Beregrond his target.
Gandalfs men got the target killed! So I'm still in it, otherwise tons of men fighting eagles
Another eagle dies!
Radahast running, he's the leader so my gial now is to kill him and break the eagles to get more points.
Big mix up with eagles Gandalf, Denethor, all kids of people. Oh also Gandalf has managed to break Radagasts staff and use up his will, so no healing.
Bit of a stand off. Lots of shots at radagast and some more eagle battles.
In the end we are both broken, and radagast is wounded but not dead. Points wise I get 7, but the eagles get 8! So a win for them.
I captured the middle thou and got my secret objective.
Was a very fun tournament, the secret objectives were very fun. Lots of great games. In the end I was last place so got another wooden spoon for the now growing spoon collection. Hopefully not many more!
