Battle Report - Blood Red Skies

Hello All,

Time for another socially distance game in the sun. This time we decided to try out the new Warlord planes game, it's a pretty simple but fun game with some neat models.

Rules wise kind of standard Warlord game with cards and simolevdice mechanics. Planes landed back have advantage, forward disadvantage, and that is basically how dog fighting works.

Heres the set up. Duncan has 6 Stukas to try and bomb a liberty ship. I have 2 BF109s, near the cloud to escort, and 4 more arriving from the right. Stan the Ace has 4 Spitfires intercepting, and 2 more coming on from the left.

Turn 1 mostly everyone moves forward and climbs. Once Duncan explains how slow Stukas are Germam air command becomes very concerned!

Next turn the bulk of my planes come in from the edge, diving to get into range. They all fire on the Aces wing man, but I only get a single boom (morale chit). But of a mix up in the middle.

Believe this is 2 turns later, bit of a scrum in the middle. Different planes trying t8 get advantage to shoot. I think everyone has 1 plane down?

Next turn, my fighters are building up morale chits 9n the British, but they are getting behind the Stukas which is bad. At least the ace is having a hard time.

Next go the Brits really get on the Stukas, and are able to out maneuver them and build up allot of hits. This forces them to loose on morale so they dive and evade combat.

This leaves the 109s in a decent position, and I'm able to get the last few hits to break the Spitfires.

So at the end of the day the British defended the liberty ship, and shot down 2 Stukas and a 109, for the lose of a single fighter. So a pretty clear victory for Stan.

It seemed to end maybe a bit early, but people were really fading out in the heat, so the timing worked out!

Was a great game good to try out new stuff.

Thanks;
Mike

Battle Report - Socially Spaced Saga, Outside

Hello All,

Got another game in, this time some Age of Magic in Duncans back yard. Have to keep your distance and all the. Luckily no monster blew awayvor got rained on!

Went for 'Changing Plans' I think the battle was called. But basically count slaughtering points end of turn 3, survival end if 5, and conquering end of 6. So a bit of everything.

We skipped the rueps for set up, tossed down some terrain and got right to it.

Oh i was testing out my Lizards with the wild board, Duncan had the draconian horde.

Here is the deployment, scaly beasts all over the place  I guess the sun makes the pictures a bit off, but thems the apples.

Turn 1 the dragons rush in, roast my kroxigor and rudely eat them. But the frost dragon is left exhausted, easy pickings for the skinks. Also my warlord backed up a bit and the riders advanced. Was actually very had to maneuver for me as I lost we better, and have so many levy and monsters.

Of course the dragons are all monsters, so weren't interested in my complaints!

Turn 2, the dragons were very hungry it seems. They ate up my orange skins in the woods, the the big black decided to fight my warlord. I suppose fighting the biggest fanged beasts is how you get to be cheif dragon.

Ended up a bit of a push, but both have lots of fatigues and my turn next.

The pterodactyls know when to fight, si the peck out the black dragons eyes. A big blow for the dragons as they now cant use any advanced abilities at all. The skins kept tossing javelins, the wild's board allows them to ambush and shoot out of any unoccupied terrain which is very nice indeed.

More colossal combats, my warlord is the biggest and need everyone to know it.

Some turns it's hard to activate so not much gets eaten.

But charging left my guy vulnerable and the dragons fire brings him down. I think at this point we did the slaughtering points and I was up a bit.

On my next turn I got lucky dice, so my bastilidon, and setggasarus were both able to down dragons. But my wizards head exploded, so cant win em all.

Getting a bit thin on dragons at this point, but they have a mind to eat one more monster. Survival points now which sealed it for me really.

But the blue and bronze dragons get their tasty treat. I tried charging with my riders, but just missed killing another dragon.

Turned out to to be quite a fun game. Dragons vs dinosaurs is fun who knew right?

Playing outside worked great so bound to be more in the future!

Thanks,
Mike

Battle Report - Warhammer 40k

Hello Folks,

Was finally able to get a bit of a game going, has to really limit the size as it's still the apocalypse, also the games room is now also an office!

But we managed a 700 point game of 40k, 7th edition.

I took some Imperial Guard force with some infantry, a tank some storm troopers and an astropath. Fighting Tau with a kind of similar break down with some infantry a tank and some suits and stuff.

We played a simple Combat Patrol mission with the troops and a commander starting, and most stuff in reserve, with bonus points for controlling table quarters. As an extra twist there was intermittent acid rain!

Heres the set up, heroic humanity in the close corner, evil aliens in the far.

Not much action turn 1  just both forces advance slowly.

Turn 2 has more action, some battle suits and a tank arrive for the Tau and start shooting up my troop carrier. I also got my big tank who blasted a Tau infantry unit from the shattered woods. My close support unit disembarked by the blue woods as was just able to flame the Tau there as well.

Next turn the Tau get the rest of their reserves and are easily able to blow up my first tank. With the suits hiding out behind the big rock.

My turn saw the storm troopers arrive who party out flanked the suits doing a bit of damage, but my tank was able to blast out the last Tau infantry unit. His Eradication cannon proving very effective.

Final Tau turn the gunship, plus small fast tank flanked my lumbering hulk hoping for revenge. Although the both got hits and did heavy damage, it was left alive but unable to shoot. The suits flamed up the storm troopers killing half, but they held on. The foot infantry failed worse loosing allot of guys and running.

Last turn the storm troopers tried to assault the battle suits, but with the sergeant dead didn't get much. The commissar finally joined the battle, but with my tank shaken I couldn't damage the Tau vehicles.

In the end I was ahead a bit on murder points, and controlled more territory, so it was a victory for humanity. But if the Tau had been able to finish that tank it would have been very close.

Anyway that's it for now.

Thanks;
Mike

Painting Update - Imperial Guard

Hello Folks,

Got another batch of apocalypse painting for you. This time decided to add on new stuff to my Imoeriap Guard army.

Leman Russ Eradicator:

Pretty basic, but still cool. Realized after I forgot to put some decals, might add those later.

Armored Fist Squad:

Group of veterans loaded out with shotguns and flame throwers, plus a chimera to get them in range. Maybe not the best picture, but I was to lazy to set up the photo booth thing.

Artillery Officer:

And the artillery officer, ready to call in the heavy hitters.

Tech Bee:

Finally I painted this er lady of an infinity painting contest.

Monster Terrain - Kickstarter

Hello Folks,

Got delivery on a set of terrain I kickstarted awhile back. All pre-painted plastic. Set it up to see what it was like, so figured I might as well toss a few pictures up.

Also got a new 4x3 mat, so have a saga sized one now. They also give you 2 sided pieces for the area terrain. All 2 sided the mat is desert on the other side, and the trees have ponds.

My hope is because it's all light plastic it will be durable and easy to move around, so easier to bring to the  club.

Looks pretty good to me. Basic stuff mostly like forests hedges and rocks. Got a couple of the forests in blue to give a bit more of a fantasy vibe, but its mostly fairly generic.

Will be good to say how it works in a game. Not sure how tippy the trees may be, but they seem ok. Will be tempted to get another set of trees or 2 if it works well.

Looks like they are planning a second one with more urban stuff, most likely will do that as well.

Thanks,
Mike

Paint8ng Update- Infinity 0-12

Hello Folks,

Finally finished the next painting project. The local infinity club got me started by having a single model painting contest, so I went on to finish the army.

Another science fiction army. The O-12 are basucally the space UN. Was fun to work in a new infinity army, just need a game to try them out!

O-12

First up an army shot. I'll post individual pictures of my favorites below. Probably a bit much to do individual shots of them all in one post.

Havemt decided on the next big project yet. Most likely either Alexandrian Successors, Iranian Tanks, or more 40k/fantasy stuff. Also tempted to do a very small amount of pulp stuff.

Open to suggestions I guess!

Painting Update - Lizardmen Wave 3

Hello Folks,

But if a smaller update this time I guess, but been awhile so figure its time. This wave is all about mounted units which are often a struggle for me so progress was a bit less.

Sarus Cavalry:

First up the heavy hitters! These are the current plastic models from the Sarus start collecting box. They are actually a bit older so kind of disappointing to see GW not go for a new kit but they are still pretty cool.

I also have a set of the older version with plastic mounts and metal riders but they are on the Back burner.

Tichi-Huichi's Raiders:

Then I have a more special unit, these are really old metal models I got of Ebay, just think they are cool! These are more light cavalry.

Forgot how much of a pain these od metal models can be, so many parts and you need allot of green stuff to close the gaps. Look great painted up thou.

High Elf Battle Standard:

Finally a pointy elf hero. Actually had this guy done long ago, just before the apocalypse but ke9t forgetting to post it. Great plastic  model,  the banner turned out pretty well I think.

Anyway that's it for now, but GW finally reopened the online store so I have a few more dinosaurs to do hah.
