Battle Report - Marvel

 Hello Folks,

Had another gaming day with Duncan, this time we played Marvel Crisis Protocol. I took the 3 Sentinels plus wong, Duncan had the Communist alliance or something?

We did the required 2 objective cards, 1 is the red ones you pick them up and they give you power and victory points, but do damage. The blue ones can't move but you roll some dive to control then can leave.

Here's the set up, big blue guys ready to take points. My goal for this type of game is score early score often.

First turn not much action, but the blue guys grab 2 red, and black widow and red whips guy both get 1 each as well.

Think I missed a turn but the most of it is crimson dynamo and whips beat up a sentinel really bad, but the leader put him back together. This caused them to want to smash up him.

Now I have 2 of the blue and had 2-3 red most turns. But the sentinels are getting pretty beat up.

Black widow was nice and got off the middle blue, sentinel prine took a hit but it allowed me to control all 3 for the win.

So another fun game of marvel. The models and especially terrain are really great, so hopefully it keeps going. For us at least everyone has more teams they are slowly working on. Hopefully will have 3 next time!

Thanks;

Mike

Cangames - 2024

 Hello Folks,

This weekend was Cangames, here's a few pictures and thoughts on how things went.

Old West:

Friday afternoon I ran my old west game:

First scenario, Pinkerton and the sherif investigate what the mountainmem are up to.

Mission 2 is a chase, the cart trying to escape with the goods.

Final scene is a Showdown at the mine.

Went pretty well, lots of people interested. Ended up having to run through twice to fit in some extra people. First time the mountain men won, second time the law.

Other Interesting Games:

On the final day we had a small Warhammer the Old World tournament here's a few pics from that:

For the final table we played a 3 player game to decide the overall winner. Goblins vs Chaos who ever kills the most ogres wins.

Turned out to ge chaos but it was pretty close.

Overall very fun Cangames, look forward to next year.

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - Warhammer 40k 3rd Edition

 Hello Folks,

Another game of classic 40k today, Eldar vs Imperial Guard in the Patrol mission.

I took a seerer council, guardian defenders, storm guardians, striking scorpions, a war walker and a fire prism. Facing 2 tanks and all kinds of dudes.

Here's the set up/turn 1, 2 units of troops not much action just a bit of positioning.

Turn 2 time for reserves, the guard got both tanks and an infantry platoon. I think a few guardians got killed but no big deal.

Reserves for me, walker, tank and space wizards. Guardians take cover behind the pipes and start lasering up infantry. Manage to hide from 1 tank and stun the other.

Next turn the guard have everything but the commanders advancing under a hail of bullets and shells. A tank manages to explode my war walker which is not good. My storm guardians show up but get battle cannoned into oblivion, I rolled lots of 1s for cover saves and have a house rule for the pipes being dangerous.

Next turn, if I can weather the shooting and get some good charges I can turn things around. The scorpions hide from 1 tank, and mine destroys the other.

My plan mostly works, scorpions and seers get the charge, each killing a unit. The seers sweeping advance into another, but I roll a 4 for the scorpions. They are sadly ripped apart by demolition charges.

After this the random turn end came so games over. Points wise the guard are up a few hundred so a win fir them!

All in all very fun game enjoying 3rd edition.

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - The Old World - ogres vs beasts

 Hello Folks,

Another battle report from last weekends gaming at Fandom. 1500 point lists to practice for Cangames was the idea.

I took my ogres and ended up playing some beasts with lots of ogre sized models.

Here's the set up, line of big dudes, iron guts in the back with the butcher.

Turn 1 mostly just advancing, but stay still with the leadbelchers to try some shots, all miss.

Beasts advance aggressively more the willing to take a charge.

Who am I to deny them! Ogres with the brushes beat up some minotaur, who roll bad and break, panicking the dragon ogres. Oh dear. Also beat the ogres on the flank.

Both units fail to rally, but a chariot gets my flank killing a unit.

That leaves his flank for the guts to smash and carry into the minotaur.

Minotaur loose and get run down, dragon ogres still can't rally.

So that's that really, very bad luck for the beasts, but risky to put all your eggs in only 2 baskets!

We played a second game that went much better, I lost a bit on points. But only 1 set of pics a day.

We also had a brets vs Empire game

Thanks;

Battle Report - Battletech

 Hello Folks,

Felt like playing some classic battletech today so headed down to join the battletech day at Fandom.

I was advised to bring a force of about 5-6000bv2 so took a few comstars guys to have some fun.

Mercury

Exterminator

Black Knight

King Crab

Just a kill game

Here's the setup, couple of lances advancing into town to Duke it out.

King Crab lumbering forward, while mercury dashes in for a strike.

Mercury and a spider having a scrum while black knight tries to get in the flank.

Chase goes off around the industrial stuff, but King Crab is able to back up a try a couple of AC20 shots, but no luck. Black Kinght gets some shots I to his rear.

The mercury spider chase comes around full circle, the spider attacks King crab show lands a nice ac20 shot, souder I'd just standing. Black Kight takes heavy fire and falls.

Get right into slugging range, perfect for the Crab who lands a pair of AC20 hits stripping the torso armor from grasshopper. Mercury tried to use his MASC to make a run, but it failed and he went down taking very heavy damage. But exterminator was there dishing it out in revenge.

At this point ran out of time, but it was a fun game. Relatively even still so I guess a draw.

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - Warhammer 40k 3rd ed

 Hello All,

Time for another battle report, this time playing some classic 40k 3rd edition!

Took my new Blood Angels to fight some space orks, we played cleanse, just capture table quarters nice and simple.

Here's the set up, rhino full of marines to take 1 quarter, scouts and a tank to take another. Terminators to hold diwn the middle.

Orks cone out fighting sending sons killer fans diwn the middle and death choppers around. I stun 1 Kan with my missile launcher, and the predator gets 2/3 if the choppers.

Missed a turn or 2 of pictures, but my marines got over run by the orcs, terminators fought of the Kansas but took heavy damage. Now the warboss is getting ready to charge my leader.

They kill each other in a mighty challenge! And sweeping advance to my tank.

Terminators form a libe to hold off the orcs, while the tank drives ahead and shoots uo the warbosses nobs. Getting to the point where the ork units are all small and morale is becoming a problem.

Orks do some shooting buy fail to rally the nobs, nit much success with the killing either.

Final turns, the Terminators are able to shoot 1 unitvof orks up really bad and charge the other, scouts get the nobs, and the tank finishes the last unit.

Bloody and close game but the marines are able to tough it out and stay on top!

Very fun to play thd old edition again!

Thanks;
Mike
