Battle Report - 3rd ed 40k Blood Angels vs Iron Warriors

 Hello Folks,

Today was 40k day at Fandom so more gaming going down. Blood Angels vs Iron Warriors, decided to try out the frontal assault mission in the Blood Angels book. Blood Angels get double points for kills, Iron warriors get regular points for kills and points for surviving.

Here's the set up, Iron warriors deployed to defend, Blood Angels set up with lots of terminators and assault Marines in deep strike reserves. All my Sargeant have teleport homers.

Post turn 1, I achieved my turn 1 goal of killing the vinducator, can't have they around when the deep strikers come in. Iron warriors get my Scouts, a rhino, and to many marines.

Turn 2 I get all my reserves, which is badly needed. Raptors finish off my tactical then move on to assault Commander Dante with 2 guys left.

Dante proves his worth by rolling 5 1s and is then taken to 1 wound.

Fire on my reserves is brutal but i still feel I'm in a good place. The dread died, but he tanked a crazy amount of firepower, and killed 2 tanks so can't really fault the guy.

Assaulting time! Nothing goes particularly well. Even the assault terminators aren't crushing it.

Eventually push through the front line, the Iron warriors terminators dread demon prince and obliterators reform ready fir round 2.

More shooting up of marines.

Round 2 go. Chaos terminators crush my regular terminators, but the 1 assault guy and remanat of an assault squad can take them. Dante is doing mediocre against the demon prince, doing 1 wound I think the first time when has furious charge and is buffed by the priest. Also was hoping my assault boys could 1 round the 5 devistators but no...

I'm not stuck in here with you, your stuck here with me.

The demon prince kills Dante eventually, in the end most stuff is dead. We both have like 300-400 points left, but the way the points work that os a solid Blood Victory.

Leave to the reader to decide if that's fair, bit felt like a draw to me.

Dante did not perform at all, most of my assault troops took to long to do their job. But my shooting was oddly on point.

Anyway plan to try out tau for the next day.

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - Bolt Action

 Hello Folks,

Games day at the club, finally got around to playing some Bolt Action and trying out the 8th army. Also the new British book is just out so using that as well.

Only have 700 points painted so ding that, rolled for mission and got demolition or something, a base on each deployment zone get a no-vehicle unit there and roll a 4+ to destroy it and win.

End of turn 1, just moving units on. It's a great way to deploy. Both sides are using 2 infantry squads to attack with heavy weapons to defend.

Round 2 the real game starts, my light mortar almost imnedatly rolls a 6 ti land a shot on a German mmg team killing it. Else mostly advancing, German cav pushes up behind a building, and my mmg looses a guy.

Turn 3 things heat up, the German falschimjager squad moves into the open and gets badly shot up, I roll crazy dice German cav assaults my at rifle and easily kills it, but my officer teams assaults back rolls all kills leaving 1 cav left but getting killed. Infantry advances forward.

Turn 4 getting dangerous, Both sides have an infantry unit within striking distance of the enemies base. Matilda is trying to shoot up the German elite troops but they are tough.

Turn 5, fallschimjager get on my objective, and I can't stop them. So only option fir me is to run my squad o  the enemy base and try to Winn the roll off. A German mmg behind the building is on overwatch however. This gets 6 kills! I fail morale and the rest run. Next turn the Germans blow my base.

Very fun game, turn out elite troops are better assaulting objectives then regulars who knew.

Really enjoying bolt action 3, have to paint more stuff and play more games!

Also some pillage happening.

Thanks;

Mike
