Battle Report - 3rd ed 40k Tournament

 Hello Folks,

Played in a 3rd ed 40k tournament today! I took an eldar list with the avatar, fuegan, Swooping hawks, dire avengers, guardians, and some war walkers.

First mission was cleanse and I had to face the Speed Freak Orcs.

Part way through the orcs first turn, getting ready to charge the avatar.

I move out, really hoping my war walkers can get rid of the basilisk but they miss, fuegan also misses. Dire avengers have to charge the bikes with is mostly a wash. Not the best start.

Orcs charge my banshees, the other fights on going, and the artillery shells my walkers get a stunned and a weapon destroyed.

My turn again, fuegan failed to kill the big truck with shooting, but charged and did ot with bombs! I forgot he gets to reroll armor pen, ops. Hawks finally come in as well. Oh and the avatar is fighting a warboss and his novs now.

Getting diwn ti the end now. Only thing left that can claim a quarter are the vehicles and guardians. But 1 war walker is immobilized. Fuegan in the end walked accross the table and blew up the badilisk himself!

Orcs wipe out the Eldar, and have a bigger that can claim a quarter so victory for them!

Game 2: Night Fight vs Imperial Guard

Deployed for a night fight, my plan is fire guardians and dire avengers to fan out and claim the sort of flank quarters, while the rest kill! I realize after the first game I actually don't have many troops or vehicles.

Advance, to dark to see much.

Guard have some scattered mortar fire but nothing crazy.

More advancing starting to get some shit now  but nothing super effective.

Guard gets a perfect battle cannon shot right on the war walkers, despite their shields with go. Mortars whistling away my guardians. But the Eldar net is closing in.

Eldar turn, fuegan does his thing and kills a russ, and the avatar forces back a unit of conscripts, who only just manage to rally at the board edge.

Guard time to do some damage, they really need to kill the avatar. But thd demolisher cannon shot goes wide, the rest does some damage but not enough.

The avatar crashes through a tank, and the Hawks arrive, that's the killing blow really.

Dire avengers and guardians snag a quarter each do we manage a win.

Game 3: Rescue vs Genestealer Cult

Turn 1, sadly the objective closest to the cult turns out to be the real one, so I'm in trouble.

Cult brings in some reserves to try and secure

I'm advancing up as fast as my Eldar legs can, also drop in with the Hawks. Manage to kill the first squad holding the package.

The Cult shoots back and their genestealers head for the objective.

Get greedy and assault the magnus with my Hawks, a few die to suicide vests, shooting would have been much smarter. Also banshees arriving to late.

Try to win but to my army is a bit to slow for this. The war walkers had poor luck killing chimeras as well which doesn't help sadly. Few key mistakes as well of course.

Anyway a win for the Cult.

Very few games, enjoyed all 3 scenarios quite a bit, look forward to the next 1!

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - Marvel Crisis Protocol

 Hello Folks,

Managed to get a game in with Dunxan yesterday, doing some more Marvel stuff. The models are grear fun to paint so it's easy to add a few guys to keep things fresh.

I painted Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Added them to my brotherhood of mutants, Duncan had a random assortment of heroes led by black widow, with winter soldier, an arrow guy, a purple lady and vision.

Mission wise we had rules tokens that are traps you can take over and then they guve you points, and res ones you can collect.

Here's the set up, mystique and juggernaughr left, scarlet witch center, quicksilver and toad right. My starting plan is to use my 2 fast guys to get as many points as early as possible.

Here we are end if turn 1. I'm a bit ahead on points so ots working. New idea becomes drive juggernaught into the enemies face and punch some really hard, hopefully they will feel they have to fight. Everyone else get points. So juggernaught charges in gets lucky and KOs vision.

End of turn 2. This plan worked pretty well, winter soldier is doing some good damage on the flanks thou. Duncan has some really bad rolls and first quite down the juggernaught.

End of turn 3, Duncan gets really unlucky with the arrow guy and failed to flip 1 of my blues last turn, but juggernaught gets crazy lucky and flips a very contested 1 he doesn't deserve. Winter soldier and the purple lady also KO scarlet witch making me drop a red token.  But it's not quite enough to stop me from winning.

At the end we realize Duncan was using points values as hp, so vision probably should have stayed up. This would change everything of course, but eh mistakes haolen still a fun game!

Mike

Battle Report - 3rd Ed 40k

 Hello Folks,

First gaming day of the year! Back for some classic 40k, this time we are doing 1000 point lists to practice for an upcoming  tournament.

Rescue:

This mission starts you with only troops, so I get a bunch of guardians. The 4 papers have numbers, one of them is the real 1.

Turn 1 I move up and immedatly find it.

Marines start advancing!

Swooping hawks drop in from reserve grenadeing some marines. Also war walkers hiding behind the building.

Marines get some assault guys. Next turn I get Fuegan who walks in and melts 2 of em.

Marines assault the Hawks, but I get lucky on the exarchs power sword and kill their punchy fist. Also a rhino with command squad arrives.

War walkers promptly kill that, as the avatar and his entourage walk over.

Marines bring in a vindicator!

But the Avatar kills the command squad and that about that. A win for the Eldar.

Game 2: Nightfight

Now we have a night fight, basically capture table quarters, plus night fighting rules. Marines deploy first a drop a vindicator dictator front and center. My plan is for the scorpions to go 1 way, storm guardians the other, avatar comes down the middle.

Sadly for the vindicator Eldar go first again. Fuegan sneaks fwd in his lil woods and destroys the tanks cannon, the walkers then finish it.

Command rhino swings left as the assault Marines head fir storm guardians.

War walkers delete the rhino, pinning the command squad.

Assault Marines and the Chaplin start messing up the storm guardians.

Upside down picture, anyway main point if Fuegan vs Chaplain.

Avatar killing the commanders again.

Fuegan rolls poorly and the chaplain gets him.

Missing the last couple of pictures, but hawks come in and get killed by the chaplain. But reapers and walkers kill a marine squad the avatar mostly gets another but a plasma guy eventually kills him.

Quarters wise the Eldar are ahead claiming g another victory.

Thanks;
Mike

Battle Report - Old World Wood Elves vs Empire

 Hello All,

Had the pleasure to play another game with Mr. Nick this evening who is practicing for a big event.

Decided to try out my dragon, gotta get the bug green guy in a game!

We played a mission from the tournament pack, kind of standard battle with table quarters, 2 strategic locations and secret objectives. I took 1 where you had to kill the enemy general.

Here's the set up, I put wildriders on 1 flank, dragon on the other to spread out the threats, infantry in the middle, skirmishers in the woods hoping to mess with artillery.

Empire went first but didn't do much except try to shoot some scouts who used evasive.

I moved up with most no shooting stuff, killed some skirmishing archers. Really want to somehow slip the wild riders past the tank. Which will be impossible if it's aggressive, but ok if it's not since I can use the wood to block my sight.

Empire position sone halberds and the griffon to fight the dragon and shoot sone shots killing a guy or 2 here and there.

Seems like i got excited and skipped some pictures! On the left the wild riders ride past the tank and stood in the open in front of the outsiders. This risk worked out and I only lost half. Then got the empire cav.

On the left big green charged the halberds, who feed the dragon a priest and I bounced back 2. The griffon then charged in, but ot turns out griffion v dragon is bad for griffons. Now he's feasting on halberds.

I had moved my rangers 1" from the empire big block of spears who now charged. I thought i could win this fight, but only if they did this. Turned out to be a draw due to the griffon standard. Oh also the empire mage blasted my poor dancers off the table.

But then they get flanked by a dragon and treemen. At this point the empire called it. They would have killed my riders probably, so like 500 points for them, I win by some amount.

Anyways fun game.

Thanks;

Mike
