Battle Report - 3rd ed 40k

 Hello Folks,

Today was 3rd ed tine at Fandom again. This time I took some blood angels to fight the Dark Eldar. Mission wise we went for cleanse, one if the classics. Control table quarters to win.

Here's the set up, dreadnought right up front to force back the Eldar, with terminators and death company, predator and Scouts in thd back to hold quarters and flanks around, and a tactical in a rhino to push into the left corner. Also have a plane in reserve. Eldar have lots of grotesque deployed and stuff in a few raiders.

Turn 1 advance up, death company about yo charge in and do what they do.

Raiders advance and kill dready and my rhino, but the death company have the grotesque killed now finishing some witches.

Great turn for me killing all 3 raiders and leaving he dark eldar mostly pinned. Terminators even got theirs in close combat.

All the Dark Eldar can really do is have the talos charge the terminators, but with crazy lucky saves he only gets 1.

On my turn he whifs again and gets pummeled down by power fists. My tactical finishes a warrior squad, and thd death company charge the incubi. They are crazy dangerous for marines so this is dicey. But it's a bit awkward terrainwise so only a few can fight at a time. I think this accidently works I  my favor as it keeps the archon out.

Grotesque charge the terminators after getting shot up by my plane a big. Terrible match for them but they are chipping away guys.

Last stadium of thd brave cyclone guy.

Incubi beat the death company, but only 2 incubi and the archon survive, the predator tank imnedatly foes for the incubi. Looking grim Dark Eldar wise, but they are determined to kill every marine possible!

Plane zooms in, no more grotesques.

Archon charges in, losing 1 wound to drugs. Butchers 5 marines, but I fall black and blastvhim with bolters. Finally fails a shadow field save and the find goes down!

A win for thd marines with all the Dark Eldar killed, but many of humanities bravest joined them.

All and all very good game! I think it swung allot on very lucky rolls from me. 3rd ed continues to deliver very goid games.

Bringing out the Baneblade next tine so look forward to that beast!

Thanks;
Mike

Battle Report - Saga

 Hello Folks,

Got to play some fun games of Saga last Saturday at Red Dragon. So usually breif battle reports. I took sone Normans with a bit of everything.

Game 1: vs Joms Vkings

We did the book of battles random mission mainly as I think it's the most fun. We got:

Vanguard

Under pressure

It's a good day to die

Subjugation

Basically murder, bonus points for having the most units alive. After their turn 4 either player can say ots game over and there opponent gets 1 final turn.

Here's the set up, basically guys with bows in front to pepper em up, then knights charge and finish them off, at least that's the plan.

Joms move up but stay outside 12.

I advance a bit and let fly.

Joms get in close and do dome javelin throwing, get a few kills.

I shoot em up and charge with the right knights. It goes OK but not great.

Must have missed a pic, but allot of stuff died. I have most of my hearty alive, plus I thought someone was waiting so call the end.

Last turn fir the joms but not enough saga dice to have a huge impact. In the final count I was up 2-3 points or something like that.

Game 2:

No one was waiting so we just went again.

March column
Pitched battle
Nostalgia
Show of force

New rolls main things here are warlords get 2 saga dice. Again massacre points, but you get a bonus every melee you win, and 3 for having a unit cross the board.

Spread out more this time, I want a unit of knights to breakthrough and get the bonus.

Joms advance hard, ready for vengeance.

I shoot em up and get some kills, then the knights wipe a unit. Lucky start.

The joms counter attack killing my crossbows, but just out from charging my other knights.

Shooting kills 3 hearth guard, and my knights kill 4 from the other unit, but 3 knights die. I am mostly winning the fights thou so building bonus points.

Jond getting low on saga dice.

By the end they have not much left, so a solid win for the normans. Bitblucky woth shooting, and the scenario arguably favored me.

Final game vs Franks:

Inappropriate mat as the store mostly gets 40k. Scenario wise we did one from the tournament pack I think which was just murder really.

Set up fir battle. First turn for me, bug my long range dhoot8ng gets blocked.

Frank come in murder my crossbows and pull back. Scary.

I shoot em up real good, doing pretty well on that so far.

More fighting thos titm but pretty even. Really need knights charge now but my own stuff is a bit in the way.

I put up a good fight but getting ground diwn by Frankish efficency.

Ends up being a pretty solid Frank win.

Was a great day out, fun to get some Saga going again. They also had a garage sale so I got a big of nids to paint sone day...

Thanks;
Mike

Battle Report - Warhammer 40k

 Hello Folks,

Time for so more 3rd ed 40k action!

This week I took my newy painted Steel Legion vehicles, and was facing the Dark Eldar.

We got a Dark Eldar mission, Feint. Idea is they have 2 units in thd mid board and I follow them and get ambushed by the rest. Victory wise who ever kills the most units wins.

I set up a bit of a city table.

Here's the set up, basically a squad in an APC on each side backed up with heavy weapons, with a tank and command in the middle. Dark Eldar have witches fwd on the right, and warriors behind the round building.

Dark Eldar get to go first charging with the witches and shooting a bit with the warriors. The witches don't kill my tank but prevent it from moving away.

On my turn I advance the tank and blast the warriors on the hill. They have Dark lances which in theory are good at killing my tank. My lascannons take put the tank pinning the incubi inside. On the left my guy get out and shoot up the other warriors. Melee wise the witches kill my tank and heavy bolters.

Dark boys turn, they use it killing my foot soldiers. Only 2 of the 20 survive the turn, plus the command I guess. The dark lances can't kill my tank but shake him so he can't shoot back.

Things are getting troublesome now. Lots of good melee units closing in on my commander. But I am able to get the Sentinels to charge and start stomping the warriors.

Dark Eldar lord gets in a sword fight with the lascannon teams, that's no good.

But my tank is the hero I need, finally able to shoot again he roasts the witches with his many flames. As the emperor inended!

A few more turn but that's the main action.

In the mathematics phase we tally the score, the Dark Eldar had like 5 models left vs my probably 6, but kill points wise they had 1 more so we're victorious!

Thanks;

Mike

Painting - Steel Legion Vehicles

 Hello Folks,

Got another wave of painting done. Awhile back I did some Steel Legion infantry models, finally got back around to doing some vehicles of them.

Traditionally I haven't liked painting big vehicles very much, but with lots of colors pf spray, washes, and big make up brushes for dry brushing I have come around. They are quite fun now.

Full Lot:

Picture of everything for the thumbnail.

Chimera:

First up the Chimeras, I have a kindness for wheeled tanks so I ordered some 3rd party resin conversion kits, think they are much cooler this way, but opinions may vary?

Leman Rus Tank:

Every guard army needs a rush, the classic sci-fi tank. New kit let's you make 2 current to easily swap, but it sadly doesn't have an aerial which is a muss to me.

Baneblade:

This big lady was absolutely not part of the original plan, but towards the end of painting the first 3 I thought it might be fun to do a super heavy, I was unwilling to pay the crazy high price. As fate would have it some one at the miniatures flee market was selling 1 for 80 bucks, be stupid not to but that!

Some started a conversion but aborted that, there's a few scars but you can't really tell. This was a blast and turned out pretty great. One of the classics, need to be on the look out for a cheap Knight now. 😁

Sentinels:

Finally a few armageddon pattern sentinels to round things out. 2 of thd new kit and 1 old so you can comment which you like better. I'm turn, the new is ALLOT more parts, but the old one is hard to avoid looking 'droopy' headed, the new kit has a pin that avoids that. Also nice flat bit fir a transfer.

Anyway thats it for now, next project is either Bolt Action, or a Saga army. Hard to decide!

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - 40k 3rd Ed

 Hello Folks,

Time for more Classic Warhammer 40k action. Playing some more 40k 3rd edition, this time its my Craftworld Eldar vs the nasty Dark Eldar. As usually selected a mission from the battle book and got Out Flank.

2 objectives in my side, 1 for the Dark Eldar, but they are out flanking. Most objectives held at the end wins.

Here's the set up, the silver building, tau ship and round building in the far side are the objectives. I started mostly back but with the Wraithlord forward. Dark Eldar have 2 units of warriors deployed with wytches and incubi I'm reserve. I kept swooping hawks and war walkers in reserve.

Dark Eldar try a few shots, and I advance a bit nothing serious turn 1.

Turn 2 the wytches show up and start a melee for the tau ship. And the swooping halls drop grenades on a warrior squad killing most of them then land in the middle.

Turn 3 the dark eldar lord and his incubi show up on yhe Flank in their raider, not good. And the wytches have just about killed my storm squad.

Very lucky for me the wraith lord glances the raider with a missile, the rolls a 6 to destroy it! Leaving the incubi pinned and surrounded by flames.

Next turn the Dark Eldar lord seethes in frustration. But his guys are able to secure the tau ship and kill all but 1 hawk, could be worse.

Sadly on my turn the incubi all burn, the wraithlord then charges the Dark lord. He has a shadow field for a 2+ save but fails and is crushed by the mighty fist.

Next turn its an all out battle for the tau ship.

End of the game after turn 5. My walkers control the tau ship, the warriors have the round tower, and I forgot to put the wraithlord by the silver building so ots a tie!

Plugs the Dark Eldar took 2 slaves, so a tie + 2 slaves I guess?

Anyway very fun game!

Thanks;
Mike
