Battle Report - Saga Age of Crusades

 Hello Folks,

Club day again! This time was Lasalle but skipped out on that to play some Saga, my Teutonic Knights vs the Milites Christi.

The rolls were:

Pincer attack
Cautious
Dash of Nostalgia
Target

I realize now we forgot to pick a target, but oh well bit late now!

Playing outside today which I quite enjoyed, but the shadows made for some awkward pictures. Anyway here's the pincer set up.

After shooting arrows and shifting about.

The knights do like wise. They also charge my warriors.

But i counter with the brother knight and see off the warriors! Plus I think thus is the turn my bows got 2 knights on the other side. Levy working a treat this game. So many bodies for them to waste time killing.

More shifting and shooting for the milites, charging my knight but it went pretty poorly for them so I'm left with survivors.

Moving up my bows to be even more annoying. The brother knights only want to trample sufficiently soften targets.

Milites reforming a line and chipping away.

Time to charge the Tribal hunters and get rid of them.

Milites charge my knights with knights again trading to, and the turcoples charge my levy but I roll a bunch of 6s and a few survive.

Last turn, I get my knights to charge the turcoples trying to kill them but they annoyingly survive. So I have my warlord finish off the crossbows. Hoping that a fatigue and lack of dice will dissuade the enemy warlord for fighting mine.

But the extra Nostalgia dice is just enough for the to take out my warlord!

After the mathematics phase we are left 25-25 exactly so tie game. Very few units survive! Was a great game, Saga is always fun but I particularity like the Crusades.

French vs Austrians

15mm waring

Martin having a good time!

Battle Report - Battletech Alpha Strike

 Hello Folks,

More gaming, this week ots Battletech Alpha Strike, the new faster version of battletech. No longer with hundreds of circles to fill in, only dozens!

I tookva Star of Clan Jade Falcon to face down a bunch of free birth 8nnetsphere warriors.

Here's the set up ready to fight it our on Mars.

Moving up to engagement range, not much damage think I got 1 hit on the marauder and thats about it.

Into their up then. Trying to get everyone firing on the marauder to kill him first. But the puts some guys in the firing line. Also having trouble winning initiative. I think the turn after thus my nova goes down, but I do get the marauder.

Missed out some of the action sadly, this game is to fast and action packed for pictures! At this point I am reduced to just shadow Cat so it's not looking good.

But initative swings to my side. I'm able to fall out of range of most of the inner sphere guys and take down the archer.

Running behind the pipes and taking diwn a light mech

Trying to range them and go fir a single long shot but miss. Will take forever that way. But serms as soon as I loose initiative that might be then end.

Charging in fir glory. Think I manage to finish the wasp, but then it's the end. Shadow Cat goes down in the next turn. Did pretty good thou managed to get half of them. The numbers of the inner sphere mean allot more in thus game so might be tough for the clans.

Great fun thou and massively faster then regular battletech, both games have their charms thou for sure. This game feel way different.

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - American Civil War

 Hello Folks,

Got to try out some civil war action on Thursday, using Black Powder and the new Epic Battles stuff. I picked a scenario out of the book but forget the name now. But basically the confederates are attacking a stronger force, the union will win if they capture a crossroad.

Here's the set up. As per the map. Ready for battle. The important cross road is the one just in front of my guys.

Confederates got the first turn but immedatl6 failed a command roll so no moves. The union however did not and came charging in blasting away. I was then able to move up the end of the line to get everyone shooting.

Second brigade of union coming up in the flank. But at least only part of their line was able to move into close range as the end was disordered.

Moving my other brigade to defend the flank while everyone keeps shooting away. Also the union reserve turned up so that can't be good.

Advancing in.

Trying to fill in the gaps with my second brigade and set up a flank.

Union pressing in hard.

Lots of casualties and disorders going back on forth, but who will break first.

Turns out to be the confederates! Good news for everyone.

Very simple game but pretty fun, time to get painting so we can do a bigger game next time!

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - Art De La Guerre

 Hello Folks,

Another club day done! This week 15mm ancients using Art De Guerre.

I took my Triumvirate Roman's, and ended up fighting Norms Late Imperial Romans. Bit of a Civil War.

Here's the set up and deployment. I gave 2 wings I have legionaries, with a bit of cav out on the flank. Facing a center of legions with cav on 1 side, and some lights on the other.

Evil Romans move up taking the hill and bringing uo some annoying lights.

The legions advance! Forgot about the cretian archers thou, ops.

Evil Roman's skirmishes with some lights but not really getting damage just being annoying.

My legions continue the advance, and I move my cav over in the flank to face the much bigger evil cav force.

More picking from the skirmishes, but doing a couple of hits this time.

My legions were sadly just out of range, but get right in the face of the Evil Roman's. Charge in on the cav flank, but that goes pretty bad. Maybe a bad idea but it seemed fun!

Evil Roman's bush some medium foot. Excellent someone to fight!

Finally get to charge in and settle things. The Evil Roman's have the hill but I have more guys. Goes pretty even with both of us taking a hit on 3 units. Mostly the mediocre legions in my case so makes sense.

The medium foot comes in for some fun, and I am really looking the cav war.

Doing OK with the legion battle thou, punching some holes in the line and getting things done. The medium guys are flanking the line thou which can be problematic.

Sadly with all my cav gone and a couple of legions out my break point was exactly hit. Some the triumvirate Roman's pack uo and head back across the Rubicon.

The Evil Roman's are like half way to breaking  so nit a total loss at least. Plus was a fun game!

As usual a few shots of other games:

Battle Tech -Clan Invasion

 Hello All,

Got another game if battletech in. This time instead of preparing random armies or using battle value, we went for more of a narrative set uo to try that out.

So the evil clans are invading the metropolis of Mike City, expecting it to be defended by 1-2 lances, and have to bid as low as they dare to achieve honorable victory.

They took a star of 2 lights, an ultra light, and 2 points of battle armor. I had 4 innersphere mechs, with supporting tanks, infantry, a helicopter and even a jet. The whole 8 yards.

Terrain wise o used 3d terrain but put it on map seems, worked quite well. The terrain is 3d printed from Steel Warriors Stidios.

Set, inner sphere ready to fend off the clans. Infantrybin the trench lines must of the rest hanging back.

Moving into contact. The clan road runner comes screaming in at top speed just a blur. But several of the tankers are frack shots and roll the 11s needed to score hits!

Battle armor mixing it up with infantry as the rest concentrate on taking out the 1 ckan mech. The Jenner dashing forward to act as a distraction. I'm worried the ranks will go down fast if the clan pressure them. My jet even flies in for an attack run but sadly misses.

I'm able to bring down the lightest clan mech, and my infantry are chipping away at the battle armor, but the is taking heavy damage.

Big scrum at the trench lines. I put 8n some good damage scoring multiple hits on the adder the shorter clan mech, knocking out its targeting computer. They are not quite able to killthe Jenner, but super close.

Sadly we ran out of time there so had to call it. In the end we agreed to call it a draw, 1 mech more or less down each,  so seemed fair enough.

We checked the points after and they were actually pretty close.

Thanks;

Mike
