Battle Report - Art De La Guerre

 Hello Folks,

Another club day done! This week 15mm ancients using Art De Guerre.

I took my Triumvirate Roman's, and ended up fighting Norms Late Imperial Romans. Bit of a Civil War.

Here's the set up and deployment. I gave 2 wings I have legionaries, with a bit of cav out on the flank. Facing a center of legions with cav on 1 side, and some lights on the other.

Evil Romans move up taking the hill and bringing uo some annoying lights.

The legions advance! Forgot about the cretian archers thou, ops.

Evil Roman's skirmishes with some lights but not really getting damage just being annoying.

My legions continue the advance, and I move my cav over in the flank to face the much bigger evil cav force.

More picking from the skirmishes, but doing a couple of hits this time.

My legions were sadly just out of range, but get right in the face of the Evil Roman's. Charge in on the cav flank, but that goes pretty bad. Maybe a bad idea but it seemed fun!

Evil Roman's bush some medium foot. Excellent someone to fight!

Finally get to charge in and settle things. The Evil Roman's have the hill but I have more guys. Goes pretty even with both of us taking a hit on 3 units. Mostly the mediocre legions in my case so makes sense.

The medium foot comes in for some fun, and I am really looking the cav war.

Doing OK with the legion battle thou, punching some holes in the line and getting things done. The medium guys are flanking the line thou which can be problematic.

Sadly with all my cav gone and a couple of legions out my break point was exactly hit. Some the triumvirate Roman's pack uo and head back across the Rubicon.

The Evil Roman's are like half way to breaking  so nit a total loss at least. Plus was a fun game!

As usual a few shots of other games:

Battle Tech -Clan Invasion

 Hello All,

Got another game if battletech in. This time instead of preparing random armies or using battle value, we went for more of a narrative set uo to try that out.

So the evil clans are invading the metropolis of Mike City, expecting it to be defended by 1-2 lances, and have to bid as low as they dare to achieve honorable victory.

They took a star of 2 lights, an ultra light, and 2 points of battle armor. I had 4 innersphere mechs, with supporting tanks, infantry, a helicopter and even a jet. The whole 8 yards.

Terrain wise o used 3d terrain but put it on map seems, worked quite well. The terrain is 3d printed from Steel Warriors Stidios.

Set, inner sphere ready to fend off the clans. Infantrybin the trench lines must of the rest hanging back.

Moving into contact. The clan road runner comes screaming in at top speed just a blur. But several of the tankers are frack shots and roll the 11s needed to score hits!

Battle armor mixing it up with infantry as the rest concentrate on taking out the 1 ckan mech. The Jenner dashing forward to act as a distraction. I'm worried the ranks will go down fast if the clan pressure them. My jet even flies in for an attack run but sadly misses.

I'm able to bring down the lightest clan mech, and my infantry are chipping away at the battle armor, but the is taking heavy damage.

Big scrum at the trench lines. I put 8n some good damage scoring multiple hits on the adder the shorter clan mech, knocking out its targeting computer. They are not quite able to killthe Jenner, but super close.

Sadly we ran out of time there so had to call it. In the end we agreed to call it a draw, 1 mech more or less down each,  so seemed fair enough.

We checked the points after and they were actually pretty close.

Mike

Battle Report - Age of Hannibal

 Hello All,

Another club day! Lots of people around today mostly playing Saga, mostly Crusadrs. But Serge wanted to try out Age of Hanibal so we went for that.  My Greeks vs Carthage.

Went fir the random mission, as usual skipping terrain as i set it up and we got:

March column

Unknown length

Fog

Show of force

So basically survival points, with no shooting or charges over 12" fir the first 3 turns. Bonus for winning fights.

Here's the set up, I have a few spear phalanx ti fend the off flanked by javelins and bows. Facing many elepgants. 🐘

Both sides advance gotta get close. Javelihs only killed 1 guy so not really what I was hoping for.

Carthage does encirclememt which let's 3 units charge. The warrior cav against the javelins was a push with 1 levy lost, the hearthguard did ok damage but lost half, the elepgants were pretty brutal, killing 6 warriors despite allot of defensive stuff.

I tried to throw javeling and charge the elephants with hearthguards, but didn't get the luck I needed sadly.

The angry elepgants then stomp my 6 remaining hearth into the dirt, not good!

Not really a ton of units left.  Other the elephants I guess hah.

I rest and try to charge the elephants with my warlord, but get denied. Partly desperation anyway.

But the elephants trample me on there own turns their turn anyway. No saga dice for my turn so fame over. Not much reason to do the math as ots pretty clear, but Carthage insisted! So it was about 25-4 for them fir those counting!

Need to work on some better anti-elephant tactics it seems.

As usual a few shots of the other games:

Mike

Battle Report - Saga Age of Magic

 Hello Folks,

Another club day had happened! Yesterday was Saga day with age of magic, and vikings. I took my lizardmen and used them as the Lords of the Wild.

Ended up facing down Mr. Tod and his great company, using the variant that hates monsters but gets fanatics.

Dud the random mission as ots both fun and easy. I skipped the terrain roll thou and just set up what I had. Anyway we got:

Meeting Engagement

Regicide: games ends when a warlord dies or 6 turns

Fog: can't shoot or charge more then 6 first 3 turns

Subjugation: points for murder! And a bonus for not getting murdered.

Turn 1 for the humans, they are very limited on dice and the fog obscures the long range shots they would like to make. So just a bit defensive.

Lizards spread out and advance, bushing a few javelin out of the woods.

Humans advance up, but the fog is still a big issue. They are getting set up thou.

Lizards trundle forward, some of the skinks run forward to toss javelin at the handgunners, doing good damage a loosing the humans a dice. My cav flank way around the wood

Human turn again, they fire some shots into my blue skinks, but aren't lucky and only kill a couple. The fanatics charge out into the hard shelled titan, they make a good show of it but end up a bit short and get cut up really bad. The fog stopped the cannon from shooting it whicha6 have been enough, lucky for me

My turn for action. My cav on the flank move around and massacre the human wizard, but he annoyingly kills 2 of them! My teradyctls try taking put the cannon but he survives. Really lucky with javelin thou and get some good damage in there. I also charge in my warlord beating up yet another unit, but leaving him a bit vulnerable.

Time for vengeance, the hearthguard across the wood easily clean up my cav sadly, they are only goid at killing defenseless w8zards aparently! The human captain tries to finish my teradyctals but somehow fails and dies. Finally the human warlord charges I to my mighty lizard warlord, and manages to kill him off, and survive!

With regicide thats the end of the game! Points wise I was up a fair bit si a Lizards win. I think attacking in the fog was quite advantageous for me as it blocked allot of dangerous long range fire. But great fun game all the same! Age of Magic is always a goid time.

As usual a few shots pf the other ganes:

Lots of people at the club yesterday, always geat to see!

Mike

Battle Report - kings of War Vanguard

 Hello Folks,

A few weeks back I managed to get together with Duncan to play and we decided to give Vanguard a try. That is Mantic Games skirmish game. Took me awhile to get this up because of laziness I guess.

I had the cards for the goblins, and used some models from dungeon saga supplemented with GW goblins, to face of against the nightmarish horrors.

Scenarios was capture the plans, the goal is simple - capture the plans to win.

Here's the set up. Plans are likely in the center, but can be in either house also.

Everything moves up, one mawbeast got to the plans, but couldn't check it yet.

Troll coming in to back up the dog.

The plans were the plans, but sadly I giant floating brain killed my dog. No worries thou a goblin was able to take over. Everything then moves up to cover.

Lots of fighting now. The troll tries to smash the brain, and is flanked by the dreaded banshee (resident evil type monster not ghosts type). Goblins fighting pumpkin mem all kinds of fun.

The brain gets smashed but the trolls having a tough time. Meanwhile in the melee the goblin with the plans has sneaked way off.

In the end lots of murder on both sides, but the horrors are never able to recover the plans. So a goblin victory!

Quite enjoyed this game, pretty simple, but with enough going on t9 make it fun. Bound to see more of this. I already picked up the goblin plane!

Also had a breif trip home and amazed to get a few games of age of sigmar. No report but just a few bonus shots.

Thanks;

Mike
