Hello All,
Today was 40k say at Fandom, so of course I have another 3rd ed battle to report on. This time around I decided to take my very old Tau army, probably thd oldest full army I still have. Facing off against the Storm Giants marine chapter.
We decided to do a cleanse mission, always a classic.
Here's the set up, I have my heavy hotting broadside on point, fire warriors to hold the center, kroot and more warriors to flank other quarters, and battle suits to jet around and kill.
I got the first turn, shook the vindicator so is couldn't shoot next turn, killed the rhino and spread out a bit, bringing up my suits.
Giants mostly stay still and fire, but have extremely bad luck, only killing 2 fire warriors.
Next turn for me, broadside get vindicator so 1 problem solved. Then I start chipping away terminators and marines. Still have a dreadnought problem as well.
Still I would say things are going very well.
Couple turns later terminators and dread get a charge into the broadside crushing both. Hmm.
New plan falling back and shooting. Effective plasma fire from the crisis suits gets the terminators, with the exception of the force commander. I brought the kroot out of hiding to get a few shots, and had the blue fire warriors flank the dread, hopping fir a lucky rear shot. Which fails.
Kroot immedatly, both fire warrior units in assaults. Uh not exactly how commander pure tide taught...
Marines with a power fist catch the crisis suits.
In the end all the tau died, only unit left that could score was the dread. So he claims a quarter, marine victory!
Very fun game, came out quite close despite thd bad start. Force commander was on 1 wound. I could have at least got a draw if I was more careful with the suits at the end. A yway more 40k next month, Time fir more necrons!
Thanks;
Mike
