Battle Report - ADLG Tournament

 Hello Folks,

This weekend the club hosted a couple of gaming days, day 1 was a 15mm Art de la Guerre tournament. I took my Triumvirate Roman's to give it a go.

Game 1:

Here's the set up for game 2 ready for action.

After a couple turns of advancing the lines are getting close.

Charge the left flank into some cav with bows.

But they decide thats a bad fight and pull back.

Getting in close.

Finally get the center in to start murdering things.

Down side is my few cav guys on the right are all getting killed.

In the the end the opposing army breaks, but its pretty close.

Game 2: vs other Romans

2 heavy lines set up ready for battle.

Couple turns of advancing and we are getting close.

Romans charge Romans and the fights begin.

Mostly it's pretty even but my heavy foot in the middle is able to grind down the mediums they are fighting. But my cav is gett8ng killed again.

In the end we are both at 22 points of stuff killed. But my break point is 21 and the evil ronans are 23!

Game 3: vs Parthians

Set up for battle, heavy Roman foot, vs the heaviest cav, cataphracts.

Close in ready for murder to start. I decided my cav couldn't fight camels so decided to try running away.

Sadly ran away a bit to far and all the cache got into my rear. The fights against cataphracts also didnt go well. So a pretty crushing win for the Parthians.

Fun to play some ADLG, thanks to Tod and Jeff for organizing things.

Here's a few shots of the 28mm games going on day 2.

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - Saga Age of Hannibal

 Hello Folks,

Time for another battle! This week playing some Saga with Ahe of Hanibal, my Greeks (pike type) vs Duncans Republic of Rome 3d printed army.

Went for the random mission and got:

Bleak moor

Refused flank

Until Dusk

A good day to die

Carnage

So prettycmuch played on the short edges, goal to have less of your army murdered then the opponent. Duncan was the first player, but the mission specficied the opponent to go first.

Here's the set up, kind of squeezed by the terrain, as pike phalanxes don't do well in rough ground. But that's what elephants are for I guess.

My turn, just shifted uo a bit. Phalanx are slow and only 3 dice so can't do much.

Roman's advance in tight formation. Interestingly we have 2 pretty similar armies of defensive infantry.

Phalanxes inexorably advance poking the Roman's for a few kills.

The Roman's first manhole charges in, urged on by Scipio. They throw allot of dice in attack but I have as many in defense so a bit of a push. I'm pressed back but only a couple of greeks go down.

This aggression made floppy the elephant very made so he trampled those Roman's into the ground. I then advance again bring the line back and more chipping away with pikes.

I think thus turn the Roman's mostly rested and got set up again.

My turn and once more the elephant beat up a unit. I think only a few kills, but he got that last hearthguard with a composted bow on the way in so it worked out. Left exhausted thou.

Roman's turn and the ommedatly take him out with pillium, that causes a rampage but both units avoided casualties.

Greeks again, thus turn the companions cab gets a go, beating up another Roman unit. And lucky pike poking take put the last hearthguard.

With most of my warriors still in place and the back of the Roman army broken Scipio gives up and goes home.

No need for the mathematics phase as we have a clear Greek win.

For my part this was a great game, if a bit onside. But both armies really felt like they should, the Greeks really feel like an impossible to charge wall of pikes, with some cav on the side to murder things.

The Roman's had a hard time, but they had some really cool abilities as well, I think they are the most Romany army yet in saga if that makes sense.

Crusades still my fav but age of hanibal is fun, some meat armies.

Thanks;

Mike

Painting Update - Maya Warlord

 Hello All,

Very small update today, but finished off the warlord for Maya, so figure why not toss it up.

Slowly chipping away at the Maya. Actually only have 3 units left now. At this point I technically have enough for a game.

I find these take me quite awhile to paint but they do turn out pretty nice. Allot of that is being lazy, and working on other things as well.

Bought: 38

Painted: 61

Total: -23

Thanks;

Mike
