Painting Update - Mostly 40k

 Hello Folks,

Got some more painting done, so time for another painting post to show off what had been completed. Mostly 40k stuff.

Mortis Engine:

First up is this big olde ghost chariot to carry around a necromancer. Did this for a sci-fi on the rock painting contest, great excuse to get it do. Plan to use it as a flying monster next time i get to play age of magic!

Howling Banshees:

First new 40k unit ate these murder ladies. First new eldar plastic kit in a long time, so bound to paint a few of these eventually. May have to get another box to complete the 10 man unit. Or might just remain some old metals and mix them.

Objectives:

Can't play a game without objectives, so I did a quick job of these while watching the new Sandler movie on Netflix hah.

Wraith Blades:

Big robot guys with swords whats nit to love?

Wraith Hunter:

Finally rounding things of with a tank, nit to skimp on the crazy big gun. I used the mat varnish from army painter on this before I switched to the satin home hardware one. Nit happy with how dull it looks, but the satin worked out great for the rest.

Swordmasters:

Last but not least a few swordmasters to bring my unit up to 15. Hope to do more 40k and fantasy units intermittently but next big thing I hope to finish is some tanks for oil wars!

Evil Tree:

Oh almost forgot I finished one of the tress I got from Jeff. Very nice details, almost to many if anything. 3d printing seems pretty good.

Pledge Status, 2020:

Bought: 257
Painted: 236
Total: -21

Thanks;
Mike

Battle Report - Warhammer 40k City Fight

 Hello Folks.

Managed to get another game going over the long weekend, more 40k was on the books. Decided to set up a small city fight table, using modern terrain, and play a game using the new Incursion Missions from the new 40k edition, but still using the 7th edition rules! Messing around with quite a few things, also the table was a bit to small.

Anyway I took an Eldar force with some newly painted close combat guys (painting post coming soonish), to face down some Tau in Fire Sweep. Goal to claim objectives and clear the enemy from the area for a bigger push.

Forgot to take a deployment picture but here we are after my first turn. Mostly moving up and claiming the objective on the second story right hand side. Plus advancing a group down the street to claim another and do some damage hidden behind the left most building.

The tau fought back as hard as they could, killing allot of the guys around my home objective, and reclaiming the left objective.

Next turn was a lucky one for me, managed to advance my assault squad into range of the Tau home objective, they were able to flamethrower, all those guys and charge off the roof to put them to the sword. I would be racking up allot of points now, and the Tau were hurting.

The Tau made some risky plays to try and destroy my tank, but luck was sadly not on their side, not so much as a scratch!

This put their big battle suit in range to be charged, so my big sword guys happily obliged. I figured my tank was safe by now so advanced into the center hoping to finish off the depleted Tau forces. But didn't have many good targets for my giant cannon, dangerous to shoot close to my own guys who are now all over the place.

Final turn for the Tau saw them finally get some good luck and blow my tank to tiny tank pieces, but far behind on points and with just a couple of guys alive it was a clear victory for the Eldar.

Was a great game thou, fun to try out some new city terrain. Cardboard buildings and a new mat from battle systems I think they are called. Pretty fiddly and close for 40k, but will be great fo skirmish games like batman, or the kung fu game, zombies ect...

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - Club Day Muskets and Tomahawks

 Hello Folks,

Time for another battle report. This week the theme diwn at the club is Muskets and Tomahawks. Due to some cancelations I ended up playing an American War fir Independence game against Tod.

I took a British force scrapping together what I had. To face down a bunch of Yanks.

Loosely based a battle about burning a valley.

My mission was to burn down buildings, the Americans was murder.

Here's the set up, my guys hoping of their ship to burn some buildings, bad Americans in the opposite corner to kill the kings loyal subjects.

I got to burning things right away, by the end of turn 1 the first house is on fire. My cannon got a lucky shot and took out nearly half of one unit of continental infantry. But the Amerucans were bringing back some terribly accurate fire themselves. One sailor got killed and their group took off.

Not a ton of movement, but lots of shooting back and forth. I had dealt with 1 unit of American regulars, but the other advanced through the big house and now were right in my face.

They killed my regular unit with ease, so the sailors who had recovered tried a charge. This turned out to be a terrible plan as they were out numbered, and out fought. We played a few more turns, but my force was half gone so tods main objective of murder was accomplished.

Worth noting we had some intrigues as well. Mine was ti negotiate with a local, i got that on turn 1 with a lucky roll. The Americams had a lazy commander, so he had to move less then 12" to accomplish his goals. Sadly Tod made that guy march all across the board.

Final result, vilage only slightly on fire, negotiations concluded, time to sail off!

Only other game was John an Steve throwing down in a great looking table.

Thanks;

Mike
