Painting Update - Seige Equipment + Other

Hello All;

Decided to do another painting post. Been working on a few things. Getting ready for cangames, but also started adding to my Epic Sisters of Battle army so I can try that at Cold Wars.

Seige Assault Ballasta:

First up some big equipment to help with taking down pesky walls. Not sure how much I like this thing. Was not to hard to put together and paint and it looks good from some angles, but it cam out a but lopsided. Hard to keep everything strait,  I did it in parts for painting and assembled in blocks at the end. Also the cart with the wheels feels off some how.

Ninja:

Next up I did a set of Ninjas just for fun. Also painted them in multiple colors kind of have a power Rangers thing going on. K8nd if a mixed bag with these, I like the read and black ones and the yellow n8nha star gut is ok, but the others are kind of not great.

Immolators:

Finally a unit of Immolators,  flame tanks. The tournament at Cold Wars is 3000 points, I don't have near that so need to make some additions. Waiting for some new stuff to come in the mail hopefully it makes it in time.

Pledge Status, 2017:

Bought: 16 (more shadespire guys)
Painted: 67
Total: 51

Painting Update

Hello All;

Time for another post with a few pictures of the stuff I have been working on. Still mainly Lord of the Rings stuff. But we have just had a By Fire and Sword club day, and there was an Infinity tournament last weekend. So I used those events as an excuse to work on some other stuff as well.

First up a finished the Heroes of Helms Deep set I got from Duncan. Really like the models overall, great versions of the characters, not crazy about Aragorn thou.

Haldir & Banner:

Think I posted Haldor before but he has a pal now. Some fancy elves, they take fashion seriously hah.

Three Hunters:

Next there are the three hunters, Gimli, Aragorn, and Legolas. I think Gimli is my favorite of the three. But all are better then the plastic version.

Theodin's Household:

The human characters are in as well of course. Eowyn, Theoden, and I think the last guy is called Hamma, the kings bodyguard anyway.

Group Shot:

As you can see a great set!

Sweedish Dragoons:

On the Fire and Sword front I finished off the mounted part of a blister of dragoons. They have been half done on my coffee table (desk overflow) for awhile!

Holy Roman Artillery:

Also a couple of cannons for my infantry force.

Forage Markers:

Finally for this game a set of markers for use in the forage scenario. Big piles of loot basically.

Fat Yuan Yuan:

On to some Infinity stuff. They made this as a joke model,  but our tournament involved mercenaries so I decided to paint him up.

Yojimbo:

Lastly for today is another mercenary guy this time on a motorcycle with a big sword, what's not to love. He did well in the tournament slicing up like 4 guys. But was a laugh to play as well.

Pledge Status, 2017:

Battle Report - Saga - Romans v Goths

Hello Folks,

Time for another Wednesday wargaming battle report! This week we are playing Saga, bit of a break from the Lord of the Rings to try something different. Once more going with Aeitus and Arthur armies, so I took some Romans to fight the Goths.

I have found the mission in that nook to not be great so picked one from the crusades book. Basically whoever does the most murdering wins!

Here is the inital set up. The Goths deployed in huge blocks of mounted, hearth guard on the left warriors on the right. I kept my mounted hearth guard on the right, with scattered pockets of warriors.

Rome gad the first turn so I attacked with some mounted and killed half a unit of warriors for 1 loss, also set up some defensive abilites

The Goths counter charged with a unit of their guards killing all mine for 2 losses. Then a unit of warriors charged my line and killed half of a unit for a  loss.

I countered charmed them with another unit after throwing some plumbate aND finished off that unit of warriors.

Trading places another unit of hearth guard and the warlord smashed that unit. I was then able to use a fatigue to slow the other Goth hearth guard preventing their charge.

Next turn Rone really needed to hit back so I used the barritus ability to mI've or shoot 4 units. I shot 1 unit with the archers, then charmed into the mounted hearth guard a couple of times. This killed off all of them. Last one I moved a unit of 2 hearth guard next to my warlord. I used his free move to double charge the Goth warlord hoping I might get a kill. But it was not my day so had to fall back.

The few Goths hearth guard that remained then went on a holy terror, killing my warlord and finishing off a couple if units.

At this point we were pretty close on points, basically even on murdering regular guys but the Goths are up 3 points for my warlord. On my turn 6 I rolled my dice and couldn't activate any of my warriors, no dragons!

So we called it there as a Goth win. They could only loose by attacking so not really any point in trying.

Was a fun game couple of small mistakes could change everything.

Thanks;
Mike

Battle Report - Into the Breach!

Hello Folks,

Time for another Wednesday wargaming battle report! This week we are back to Helmsdeep, fighting the second scenario.  The wall has been exploded and the Uruk-Hai must press thrpugh and kill everyone!

We had the exact forces on had for the bad guys, and the heroes for the movie version, but still using wood elves to replace warriors of Rohan.

Here is the starting position. Everyone on the battlements but gimli is knocked down, Aragorn stands alon against the breach with more guys running to help.

I decided to try hard to fight Aragorn, so I put 2 captains with pikes and a banner in front. Sadly he won the first round but didn't do any real damage.

Have to take turns fighting.

The forces of goodwin priority next and are able to cut off the captains and flood the breach. This is a critical thing, really jammed up the bad guys in the breach.

Both of the captains are killed, not awesome!  But as you can see it is soon troll time!

The fight for the battlements is going a bit better. Gimli is sticking the upper one, but am making some headway on the lower one.

As you can see lots of bad guys are getting up there! A real fight is developing. The Elves have a bit higher chance to win fights but the Uruk-Hai have much higher chances of getting kills once they are over the battlements.

Now it's is Troll time! The troll is not super keen on fighting Aragorn and his doom sword. So forces him to charge and make a courage test. Haldir comes in as well.

The troll wins!  Seeing a good chance the troll decides to toss Aragorn. If the troll can get him in the back rows and kill some of the weaker guys that would be great. However Aragorn does a good job resisting and only goes 0" just getting knocked down.

Starting to get low on troops now, but still fighting. The evIL man captain on the battlements is killing lots of elves somehow.

But the evil forces go below their break point and start having to make morale tests. The troll is among the first to head gir the hills.

Wit low courage values the evil forces fOlds pretty fast, leaving the heroes still in the fortress. The wall holds!

Hope you enjoyed it. Should be some more helms Depp un a couple of weeks, something else next week for a bit of a change up.

Thanks;
Mike
