Hello Folks,
Yesterday was the Ludo convention held yearly on the quebec side, lots of fun last year, so of course I had to attend again.
I took my 100yrs war stuff and used them as Brettonian Exiles army. Basic story is an army from the hundred years war was transported to the warhammer world magic, now they must fight to survive.
Note this tournament is not super competitive and has some fun crazy scenarios with special rules that may help or cripple you. I won't be able to rember all the names or rules but will try and give the coles notes.
Game 1: vs Orcs
There were objectives to capture, but murder was the real goal here. Deep in the mines everyone has -1 leadership and the tops of the hills are roof pillars so are impassable.
I set up mainly to hold the center, lights troops deoyed to the tight terrain area.
Orcs com screaming, bit of shooting both sides bug nothing huge fir the first couple turns. Oh except my knight killed some bear boys, but now they have black orcs to deal with. Also allot of failed leadership tests for me in the bad terrain area.
Orcs end up punching through pretty hard. Missed the last picture, but they were able to wipe my army. Pretty disastrous first ho, but fun game honestly!
Game 2: vs Empire
Game 2 was in the desert, the weather here was no effect, except for a spot if quicksand that was instant death. How ever our scenario had an ice storm that had a big negative impact on shooting and artillery, double so he'll blasters.
Arrayed for battle, 2 ice tornados 🌪 seem like trouble, but with all that artillery on the hill they are a blessing.
Advancing behind a screen of brigands, the storm makes it tough but the artillery is getting a few hits in.
Few turns in, my knights have broken through a line of archers and are tearing through the artillery, mean while my foot knights have broken the line. Although allot of knights and most of the brigands had to die to achieve it.
Cleaning up at this point. This game turned out to be a win for me.
Game 3: vs Undead on the Plains (where the rain mostly falls
This game we had some random the made it slightly tough for black powder, but no ice storm, so my lads can handle that. Scenario had units coming from reserve a bit mixed up. Goal as always was to smash the enemy.
A nice juicy hill, and fine field of battle, and the undead split up and coming in piece meal, what could be better?
Almost all my guys came in right away and mostly in the same spot.
Dogs try to eat my cannon guys but narrowly fail. Although ot didn't do much regardless.
Trying to shoot down some pesky summoned zombies. I got 2 hits on the last guy, but he double 6ed h8s regen, that's warhammer baby.
Things are becoming scary.
Brigands prepare to die shooting as the lasy intended.
Lady vampire comes in with grave guard and uses doppelganger? To get like 13 attacks. Impressive but she only kills 1 or 2 knights, that's also warhammer hah!
Many less grave guard, my knights and spears gloriously charge, and my Bowman rain arrows, this is how battle was meant to be. So long as ms. Vampire keeps missing attacks anyway...
My other foots knights with heroic ser Roland somehow kill the big ghouls, and the vampire lasy remains poorly.
Bats save their lady, while my knights clean house in the background. Sadly said archers on the other side are zombies now, but we focus on this side of the table!
In the end this battle was a marginal win for me! But with composition scores applied it seems i didn't win by enough, so the undead claim the morale low ground. Maybe we can all ot a tie?
Very fun tournament, looks forward to next year!
Thanks;
Mike
