Battle Report - Warhammer Fantasy Tournament at Capital City Bloodbath

 Hello All,

This past weekend I was able to attend a 6th edition Warhammer Fantasy Tournament, that was hosted at the local Capital City Bloodbath gaming convention.

Was great time and a great very, they had bug 40k and AOS tournaments going on as well woth close to 300 people I guess the day I was there.

Anyway I played my new Warriors of Chais army, with 2 units of warriors, chariot, Horsemen, trolls, giant, and a couple of heroes.

Game 1: vs Empire in a Pitched Battle

Deoyed for battle, knights on 1 flank outriggers on the other, hellblaster volley gun in the middle flanked by block of infantry with detachments. Plus a mortar and handgunners near the forest. I'm mainly worried about the hellblaster.

Turn 1 I advance full speed, and try my shadiws magic, nit much damage. Sitting back def not the plan against the guns of the empire. The trolls are stupid thou which names the slow, learned you need to keep them by the general.

The empire peppers up a bot but not to bad.

My turn the horseman charge and over run the mortar, and the handgunners panic. Other the the giant shifting to face the knights another advance. Oh plus the chariot breaking a detachment.

Missed a couple of pictures but the empire charged the giant on their turn, and killed, most of my chosen warriors with halberds w8th the hellblaster, who then ran. On my turn they rallied, my Horsemen got ready to charge the hand gunners, and the chariot got turned around. The knights clipped my warriors after killing the giant and are slowly getting ground down.

Handgunners turn to face and they empire get ready for another fight.

Things get bad fast from there, the trolls actually pass a stupid test and charge the empire block with chariot support easily breaking them, and the chariot overruns into the hellblaster killing it on the empire turn. The outsiders try charging the chosen, but have bad luck on the charge and the 2 chosen are easily chopping them.

Last empire block breaks and thats that, end up a  pretty solid Chaos victory.

Game 2: vs Lizardmen in Headhunters (double points of character kills)

Set up for game 2, lizardmen with skinks, lots of salamanders, krokigors with skins in front, a block of sarus and some terradons. My spells in this game were a 20" move and another that let you charge.

Moves up aggressively, planning to use my magic to send the giant or Horsemen into the flyers, but got shit diwn by a dispel scroll.

Terradons easily clear up my horsemen.

Move up to closer range. And the trolls charge the skinks, easily kill and over run into the kooks. No luck on magic again.

Fliers charge my mage, a big mistake on my part, I thought they could only charge in the front arc, buy not they skirmish. The Chaos Sorceror is pretty tough thou so lives a turn. The trolls loose and flee blocking my chosen from charging, so not great. I shifted them to try a magic charge but got dispelled again. Also the giant got stuck fighting jungle Swarms which is the worst case for him.

My chariot cleaned up the salamanders, but big the sarus charge my other block of warriors. My general is able to kill the sarys character after 2 turns, but annoyingly the warriors break and are overrun. Also the sorceror dies.

Lizards close the net on the chosen.

And eventually chase off the chariot. So a pretty big loss pf the Chaos. I feel like this was winnable thou with a bit better luck and some magic going off!

Game 3: vs Gnoblars in Supplies

Set up for game 3, just a solid wall of goblins type guys. The bits of paper are the supplies  5 of them you get 100 bonus points for having control of more, fir each extra you have.

Gnobka4s advance with some bickering.

Advance and use my spell to get the g8ant in behind.

Gnoblars charge the chosen and turn to face the giant.

The chosen crush face as they do, but the trolls and other warriors both charge loose and get overrun!? Out on the flank the chariot is fight 2-3 units at a time and winning.

Gnoblars charging the chosen, but that just gives them more guys to kill! Also giant wreaking havoc.

Chosen continue to cut a bloody swath through the gnoblars, same for the chariot, the rest try to grab supplies and stay alive.

Surronding the giant.

He smashes out.

In the final tally allot of gnoblars died, but they killed done big units to. Luckily I had all the supplies so that made it a solid Chaos victory.

In the end the fantasy tournament was great fun, look forward to the next one.

Painting Update - Warriors of Chaos

 Hello Folks,

Painting is slowing down a bit in the summer heat, so haven't got a ton done but managed to finish off my Chaos army of 1500 pts, which is good as the tournament is Sunday!

Chaos Sorcerer:

Got to have a wizard. Actually a pretty nice model.

Trolls:

I only had 2 and 3 are needed, so had to cheat a bit and mix in a mantic troll. Doesn't exactly fit, but hopefully can be replaced eventually.

Chaos Chariot:

This thing took forever to paint. Not sure how much I like as the model is a bit over the top. But it is pretty cool. Hoped to get more done but this guy sucked up all the time!

Anyway here's my army, 2 units of warriors, Horsemen, trolls giant chariot and a couple of heroes should be fun.

Battle Report - Oil Wars

 Hello All,

Holiday Monday was time for some more gaming, this time we are playing Team Yankee with Oil Wars armies. I took the Iranians I did over covid, and Duncan and Stan used the Iraqi list.

Scenario wise we got Dust Up. In general fighting accross the corners, with delayed reserves.

Iran gets the first turn, flying in dome cobras and taking a few shots at the t72 along the ridge, getting a kill, first blood!

Iraq advances with 2 massive waves of tanks, 1 set of t72s, and 1 of t55s I think. They start shooting up my choppers but not much success.

The Iranian tanks can't really move and shoot due to no range finders, so I just hammer in as many shots as possible. Doing good work this turn.

Iraqui advance continues, downing a cobra and killing a tank.

I just keep chipping away mainly at the t72s.

Iraquis closing in, kill another helicopter, and bail both of my forward tanks.

But the cavalry arrives just in time, and s platoon of Scorpions pull up behind the t72s and ar surprisingly effective. Meanwhile t72 numbers are getting low.

T55s turn 1 platoon to deal with the scorpions, but with low rate of fire and bad luck only kill one. The t72s do better killing both of my command tanks.

Another reserves for me so I bring in some btr rising infantry. Need to distract some hinds it would turn out. The hinds and t55s are able to kill my scotpions, and 1 btr.

My turn the last Iraniam cheiftan unit arrives, and that is about it for the t55, with the t72s destroyed that makes it a win for Iran.

The Iranian list worked allot better then I expected, I guess being hit on 3 makes the ranks a bit cheaper, and good morale keeps the small platoons in the fight.

Anyway was a fun game.

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - Armada

 Hello All,

Another battle report, Duncan wanted to play a ship game so we settled on Armada. Decided to use that as an excuse to paint my dwarf fleet so banged that out on Saturday for a Sunday game.

Duncan wanted to try out his super big baseliam battleship, the dictator so ibvioud choice was the hunt the flagship scenario.

the big ship has to sail off to win, but can repair, dwarfs have to sink it. Likely to he tough.

Have to excuse the dwarf bases, I didn't have any more fancy water ones and only cam paint so much in a day!

Deployment, dwarfs ready to hunt.

First few turns really just getting into range. The wind shifted a bit, but nit enough to matter. 1 more shift would be bad fir the baseline however as they would then have to tack

Few pot shots either bow chasers, but not to much damage. Except firvthe dwarf hunter who took a broadside and immedatly sank. I managed to get a fire on the dictator as well which temporarily stopped repairs.

Next victim is my fire ship, which slips below the waves after another broadside.

Crossing the T! Get my best ship behind the dictator and hammer it pretty good. Sadly their wizard casts a spell on my other good shop preventing him from slowing or turning, so that guy sails out of the game.

Now we have s chase! Sadly with so few ships I can't really keep pace with the repairs.

Get back here!

Finally the dictator is able to sink my battleship and escape, so pretty clear loss for the dwarfs.

All in all a fun game, a but ti simplified maybe especially the critical hits table could be more interesting, but still pretty good.

Thanks;
Mike

Painting Update - Heman Chaos and more

 Hello Folks,

Time for another post, been to long again but here's what I have gotten done since last time!

Masters of the Universe:

First up just for fun is heman and his pals, from a new board game. Still have the villans to do. These were great fun

Heman:

Man at Arms and Ramman:

Stratos and Orco:

Random Mechs:

Warhammer and Executioner from our random mechs game.

Terrain:

Few terrain bits for battletech.

Eldar Autarch:

Next a couple of new eldar armies to expand my stuff a bit. This is a commander type guy.

Jain Zar:

And  a special character lady, a bit over the top? Hah

Warriors of Chaos:

Then I had to start working on some warhammer fantasy stuff fir a tournament in August. Decided to di some chaos this time, so first uo another 15 warriors this time with shields.

Marauder Horsemen:

Some marauders with flails as they seem fun.

Nurgle Sorceror:

Some real old models, now some newer ones. This is an age if sigmar guy but stuck him on a square base which works great.

Chaos Giant:

Finally wanted a Giant, but there wasn't one in 6th, and I'm not real keen on the plastic guy. So I got this model to stand in, not super big but I think it works fine, the old Giant was about this big.

Current Chaos:

So that's where I am Chaos wise, that's about 1100 points, so should be on track to get it all done forcthe event.
