Hello Folks,
Today was 40k day at Fandom so more gaming going down. Blood Angels vs Iron Warriors, decided to try out the frontal assault mission in the Blood Angels book. Blood Angels get double points for kills, Iron warriors get regular points for kills and points for surviving.
Here's the set up, Iron warriors deployed to defend, Blood Angels set up with lots of terminators and assault Marines in deep strike reserves. All my Sargeant have teleport homers.
Post turn 1, I achieved my turn 1 goal of killing the vinducator, can't have they around when the deep strikers come in. Iron warriors get my Scouts, a rhino, and to many marines.
Turn 2 I get all my reserves, which is badly needed. Raptors finish off my tactical then move on to assault Commander Dante with 2 guys left.
Dante proves his worth by rolling 5 1s and is then taken to 1 wound.
Fire on my reserves is brutal but i still feel I'm in a good place. The dread died, but he tanked a crazy amount of firepower, and killed 2 tanks so can't really fault the guy.
Assaulting time! Nothing goes particularly well. Even the assault terminators aren't crushing it.
Eventually push through the front line, the Iron warriors terminators dread demon prince and obliterators reform ready fir round 2.
More shooting up of marines.
Round 2 go. Chaos terminators crush my regular terminators, but the 1 assault guy and remanat of an assault squad can take them. Dante is doing mediocre against the demon prince, doing 1 wound I think the first time when has furious charge and is buffed by the priest. Also was hoping my assault boys could 1 round the 5 devistators but no...
I'm not stuck in here with you, your stuck here with me.
The demon prince kills Dante eventually, in the end most stuff is dead. We both have like 300-400 points left, but the way the points work that os a solid Blood Victory.
Leave to the reader to decide if that's fair, bit felt like a draw to me.
Dante did not perform at all, most of my assault troops took to long to do their job. But my shooting was oddly on point.
Anyway plan to try out tau for the next day.
Thanks;
Mike
