Tournament Report - Saga Battle of 5 Bridges

 Hello Folks,

This past weekend was time for the second? Running of Ottawas Saga tournament the battle for 5 bridges. This time the period was ancients using age of Hannibal, Alexander, or Ceasar. Since Ceasar is new i tried out the Germans from this book.

Game 1: Desecration ve Macedonians

Here's the set up, the stone pillars are the objectives, smash your opponents to increase you mac massacre score.

Macedonians move up, I charge the cav on the hill but they use a strong defensive ability, I end up loosing 6 guys and killing none.

The cav rides down my warlord, can no longer use the terror ability to boost my abilities.

Get more or less cleaned off the board over the next few turns, I get a few kills in but still a big loss for the Germans.

Game 2: River Crossing vs Romans

Time to face the romans. Just have to cross a bridge should be easy.

Block of legion and an elephant coming accross.

German units getting crushed by legion, meanwhile cav gets shot up on the other side.

Manage to kill 1 unit!

But the elephant stomps in some revenge.

Ceasar just barely fails to kill my warlord.

Accross the bridge i go.

A bit better this time but still a loss.

Game 3: Control vs Cataphracts?

I really liked this scenario, control the pillars and murder the enemy, best of both worlds!

I go first and move close, can't score the pillars so reason ti be crazy.

The enemy groups up on 2 pillars, they have some annoying support abilities when mixed in like this.

Get to killing real fast. I am getting good damage but loosing more guys then I can kill. The archers are doing goid at least chopping away cataphracts.

I am annoyingly leaving enough guys in the enemy units for them to still score and get saga dice. With their support abilities wether I attack the infantry or cav it always feels like the wrong choice.

Getting low on murderous savages.

Last stand of the warlord.

Last saga dint get the die to shoot so I charge instead! This goes as well as you might expect!

Another loss for the Germans, but a very fun game.

In the end I was last place score wise but was named the Paragon fir best total of painting and sports. There were a few really well painted armies to.

Fancy!

In the end the Germans are OK I guess but never really clicked with me. Not as fun as the vikings or muttawawi which is more what I had I  my. But never fear always another Saga army to paint, I have multiple ideas! Aparently next event might be age of vikings so ill have to think about what armies seem fun!

Few shots of other games:

Thanks;

Mike
