Battle Report - Blood Red Skies

Hello All,

Time for another socially distance game in the sun. This time we decided to try out the new Warlord planes game, it's a pretty simple but fun game with some neat models.

Rules wise kind of standard Warlord game with cards and simolevdice mechanics. Planes landed back have advantage, forward disadvantage, and that is basically how dog fighting works.

Heres the set up. Duncan has 6 Stukas to try and bomb a liberty ship. I have 2 BF109s, near the cloud to escort, and 4 more arriving from the right. Stan the Ace has 4 Spitfires intercepting, and 2 more coming on from the left.

Turn 1 mostly everyone moves forward and climbs. Once Duncan explains how slow Stukas are Germam air command becomes very concerned!

Next turn the bulk of my planes come in from the edge, diving to get into range. They all fire on the Aces wing man, but I only get a single boom (morale chit). But of a mix up in the middle.

Believe this is 2 turns later, bit of a scrum in the middle. Different planes trying t8 get advantage to shoot. I think everyone has 1 plane down?

Next turn, my fighters are building up morale chits 9n the British, but they are getting behind the Stukas which is bad. At least the ace is having a hard time.

Next go the Brits really get on the Stukas, and are able to out maneuver them and build up allot of hits. This forces them to loose on morale so they dive and evade combat.

This leaves the 109s in a decent position, and I'm able to get the last few hits to break the Spitfires.

So at the end of the day the British defended the liberty ship, and shot down 2 Stukas and a 109, for the lose of a single fighter. So a pretty clear victory for Stan.

It seemed to end maybe a bit early, but people were really fading out in the heat, so the timing worked out!

Was a great game good to try out new stuff.

Thanks;
Mike

  3. It is certainly an easy game to transport so I can easily bring it to the club once we are meeting again
