Battle Report - Flames of War Westren Front

 Hello All,

Today was gaming time again with Duncan and Stan, decided to change this up and go for some Flames of War which we haven't done in ages.

I took a mixed Panzer 4 company, with panzer 4s and a unit of 3 tigers, Stan took the tigers I took the 4s.

Duncan made an American company to match with parachute infantry and Sherman's using the Bulge book.

Scenario wise we just went for free for all, which is easy if you just want to mash tanks and not really take ot serious. Thou admirably this is the worse mission.

Here's the set up, our objectives on the roads, tigers on the left panzer right. American objectives are around the infantry, with a platoon of Sherman's either side and some guns overeating accross the river.

My panzer have 0 interest in fighting the guns so set off through town. The tigers try to blitz up on the hill but fail, as a result they just get 1 bail. The Sherman's then seek cover behind the woods.

More advancing for the Germans, the Americans are holding back until they can see the whites of our eyes.

Get 1 platoon into position to shoot up the infantry, even get 2 kills! Surely they must react now.

American tanks race forward, but not great luck and only managed 1 kill.

The return fire was pretty brutal, we probably got half of the Sherman's. My panzer git the full trick of blitz up shoot, and scoot back.

The Americans did their best to fight back, but badly shot up now. They manage another kill, but we get the rest of the Sherman's on our turn. At that point they give up as we will get that objective eventually, can shoot em up out of range.

In the end I think we had a lucky key turn, us the infantry was bring a knife to a gun fight. I expected the 76mm Sherman's to walk all over the panzer 4s but that never really happened.

Anyway fun game, more marvel next time!

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - Wargammer High Elves vs Lizards

 Hello All,

Time for the first battle report of the year, one again warhammer day at Fandom. We are doing 2k 6th edition using ravening hordes lists as there's an upcoming tournament with that set up.

Here's the seto up, lots of elf knights plus archers and sword men, vs a couple of sarus blocks, skinks, and krokigors, plus of course a slann.

Lizardmen move up with lots of screening units, shots from the terradons took a wound off the griffon.

High elves move up cautiously, knights charge the terradons who flee. Bolt thrower took a few wound off a krokigor.

Terradons fail to rally and some stuff repositions.

Turns out the salamder fires similar to a stone thrower which is very scary, so gr8ffon moves to kill him, and knights kill some skinks. The dragon princes take the bait and charge down sone skinks, ending a inch in front of the krokigors.

Lizardmen murder all the princes and the bsb which us not good, to make things worse the salamander kills the griffon. The slann has light magic which is also doing good, this round blinds the knights on the middle.

My turn, knights charge the small skink unit which holds due to blindness. Swordmasters kill a few skinks and get into the krokigors. Finally the lord and knight kill the salamander. Things looking ok for me again.

Fights grind on, the krokigors try to kill my mage but miss badly. Terradons coming back again.

Knights charge the terradons who flee, but get run down. Knights finally kill off the skinks. But the mage gets smashed so I can't really dispel a skann anymore.

1 unit of krocks charge my knights on the middle who flee, the other unit breaks my sword masters, but 3 flee out of range.

My turn rally the knights and try and line uo the last fights. My 3 knights try a hail Mary charge on the slann but miss all their attacks.

Krocks charge my knights in the middle, but I gamble they are out of range which works. The other unit cleans up my knights however.

Charged thise krocks, but not able to break them, they are ld9 cold blooded so they are tough to move.

Ended in a solid loss for me, but very fun game!

Thanks;
Mike

Painting - Elves and Marines

 Hello All,

Hope everyone had a good Christmas break, I got lots of painting done so time for another painting post!

Was watching some cool youtube videos on the pyramids while working on these, a channel called History for Granite.

Silver Helms:

Starting with the high elves, getting ready for the last warhammer 6th edition tournament. So painted some knights, used a banner from the archer set so he holds it a bit sideways.

Griffon:

Also finally painted my lord on a griffin. Not the most advanced model but a really cool pose with the claws.

Now I just need to do some eagles.

Dreadnoughts:

On ti the marines, first a pair of dreadnought. Classic size librarian one and big boy new one.

Terminators:

Then a set of the new terminators, and a chaplain. Really great set what terminators were always meant to be. Will have to get a second box.

Stormhawk Interceptor:

Finally a fighter plane to round things out. Brings me up to a nice size army. Sadly due to weather didn't get to try it out yet.

Anyways that's it for now, pretty goid start to the year.

Thanks;
Mike

Painting - Blood Angels

 Hello Folks,

Heading home for Christmas tomorrow and there is a bit of a plan to play some 40k. To that end I decided to paint a few Space Marines throughout December.

Ended up going with Blood Angels. Mostly because red is easy to paint plus avability.

Army:

750 points of classic marines, what could be better?

Tactical Squad:

Basic unit with their rhino.

Assault Squad:

For more personal work.

Predator:

For shooting things.

Scouts:

Because they were in my battalion box.

Captin:

Picked up this model at cold wars in the flee market years ago, finally got a reason to paint him.

Anyway thats my marines, should be a couple of battle reports in the new year.

Thanks;

Mike

Crisis Protocol - Battle for Books

 Hello Folks,

Another games day eith Duncan and Stan. Doing some marvel crisis protocol today. We played a three player using a scenario with 3 books 2 collect as there were 3 players.

We had teams of:

Duncan:

hulk an Blackwidow

Stan:

Cable and Deadpool

Me:

Iron Fist Wong and Luke Cage

After turn 1, mostly just moving in. Luke Cage gets on a book.

Hulk smashes a building into Luke who grabs a book. Iron Fist head to thd middle fir another book. Deadpool grabs on of his own and fights with Blackwidow while cable flanks.

Hulk hulksmashes Luke, knocking him out after I got a few points. Iron Fist grabbed a book and uses the Iron Fist to finish blackwidow, before running off.

Cable vs Hulk who will win. Turns out Hulk..  off in the distance Iron Fist with a book getting the last few points to win.

I won on points, but Hulk smashed allot so he's likely happy to!

Thanks;
Mike

Battle Report - Warhammer Fantasy Chaos Showdown

 Hello All,

Saturday was our monthly Warhammer day at Fandom, this week we are doing 2000 points using Ravening Hordes to make army lists.

I went with Warriors of Chaos, in general everything is allot cheaper so pretty much had to use all my stuff. Including some new Chaos Knights I just finished

Here's the set up, just Chaos warriors every where,  but the enemy has a dragon. I put my trolls out on the flank and was then forced to put my Chaos lord out there or they would be to stupid to move.

Turn 1 move up that's it really.

Evil chaos also advance screening with hounds in the middle and the dragon charges the trolls who strangely hold.

My turn, my Horsemen and dogs kill off the evil dogs. But the trolls break and the dragon pursues I to my units flank, on the left my chariot was to afraid to charge, but the other broke some harpies.

Dragon charges my unit and our Lords have an epic fight for 2 turns then mine dies. I had the demon sword that does d6 damage but couldn't get a wound in. An evil unit breaks Horsemen and kill half and they rally.

Missed a few pictures it seems. Those warriors coming down the center killed tje Horsemen, and broke my unit buy failed to overrun them, then got crushed in my flank by the chaps knights. The dragon whiffed a round of combat and broke from my unit with very bad luck.

The evil Chaos knights break my red Chaos warriors from the front and ride them down. But my chariots clean up the small stuff. Lucky for me the dragon doesn't rally, and the game ends.

So a victory for me. Not sure how I would have dealt with the dragon other them be lucky, but that worked out.

Assessment of RH Chaos is that stuff seems very cheap, and Chaos knights are really good. 2 attacks, Chaos armor, lances, just murder machines. But foot warriors with Chaos armor are also quite cheap. Had to really say in a mirror match.

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - Mythic Americas

 Hello  Folks,

This past weekend got to have a game of Muthic Americas with Duncan. Maya vs Tribal Nations, Time for the freshly painted bat monster to flap around and murder some fools.

We played tye second scenario which is an opposed river crossing, you get points for no flying units on the opponents side after turn 2.

Units eaten by bat monsters can't score so I'm not worried about the flying bit.

Here's the set up, characters and archers on the left, giant bat monster and warriors in the center, and jaguar people on the right.

The Tribal shaman was hast and summoned a forest in front of my boss, then teleported their warlord accross. Sadly just in charge range of my angry murder warlord, but with great saves on the nation's we got a drawn combat. In the middle the Tribal warriors got accross the bridge but floppy sent them fleeing back. Jaguar men just run straight fir the archers.

Not  a day for picture taking. For turn 3 I got perfect rolls and like all my stuff got to go first. My mage lady casted a spell which made the sasquatch flee back. The bat landed by the fleeing Tribal warriors, he has terror so they just broke. The jaguars charge the archers and just rip them apart I think 3 of 10 lived?

That broke the spirit of the Tribal Nations and they surrendered.

Very 1 sided game, I think a bad scenario for the tribes who want to pick away at the enemy not force crossings, also very bad luck on priority.

Still fun thou,the giant bat is kind of bad really but fun. The jaguar men is where the real murder happens!

Thanks;

Mike
