Battle Report - Battletech Clan Invasion

 Hello Folks,

Yesterday was time for another game of battoectech. This time it was clan vs clan on a lava world. Thought this would be a fun mix up.

Special rules:

Ambient Temperature 70deg, so all mechs get +2 heat a turn

Magma: Gives to heat if walked through, 5 heat and 2d6 damage to parts that sound a full turn in it, and you might bog diwb and get stuck.

Magma Crust: hexes walked over break and turn to maga on a d6 roll of 6. Mechs might bog

We used random mech assignment and played with zelbrigen dudes, with the following mechs facing off:

Jade Falcon - Ghost Bear

Executioner vs Gargoyle

Hellbringer vs mad dog

Nova A vs Nova Prime

Mad Cat vs Summoner

Stormcrow vs ice ferret

Scenario was take and hold, so we had a communications truck near the center, you get a point each turn you hold it, most points over 10 turns wins.

To be honest this was maybe a bit to big of a battle to realistically complete.

Here's the set up. Full stars of clan mechs ready for action. The area between the yarn is the thin crist, used fire hexes to denote the new Magma.

Mostly advance with jade falcon scoring some hits, but ghost bear getting misses. Ghost bear have the fastest mech thou and are able to claim the truck turn 1. The ghost bear mech ended up breaking through the lava on his last move and got some heavy leg damage.

Turn 2 everyone charges in and the crust starts breaking up. My Nova flew up on a mountain because it seemed fun. The executioner was really pulling hits into the gargoyle, but my hellbringer was also taking some good damage. Magma is getting harder and harder to avoid!

Turn 3, starting to get hard keeping mechs moving fast, while avoid the Magma, and keeping 1 near the truck. Big event this turn is my executioner going around the bug rock. The gargoyle tried to follow but bogged down in the lava, taking a good bit of leg damage.

Turn 4 rolls around and its getting late, the sun is going down. The Jade Falcons feel that give time they would kills ghost bear mechs and win the scenario, really they deserve a win. Given that they decided to set aside the tenets of zelbrigen and just a hilary the 2 mechs by the truck. The mad cat even going so far as to shoot the mad dog in the back! For shame. Sadly despite a heroic attempt leaving both pretty crippled they dont quite go down.

Out of time the ghost bears declare themselves the winners and the falcons honourless scum and head home.

The Magma turned out to be very fun in the end, lots of drama moving units and seeing of they will breakthrough or not! Sadly this game was maybe a bit to big and we didn't have time to get even halfway through, making it a bit easy fir whoever gets the truck first. But the last ditch effort to cheat and spice things up was fun to. Everyone likes being evil afterall.

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - New Lasalle

 Hello Folks,

Time fir another club day report. This week everyone is excited to try out the new Lasalle version, hot off the presses.

I took my Prussian with Tods help providing 2/3 of my army (thanks!). Facing John using Tod's French. I choose the battle with a town on a hill, seemed fun and easy to bring terrain for. Objective is the town, but also has a sudden death rule if you loose a third of your force.

Here's the set up, couple of infantry brigades, now go murder so French people, maybe take a town if it seems convinenient.

Turn 1 move uo and make some lines.

Turn 2, a few units got into volley range but not allot. Also the evil French got their cav!

By turn 3 we have a real batch of fire. Some units getting beat up pretty hard. But still at the point where rallies keep them around.

Turn 4 and we start to see a few units breaking. I think I lost 3 and the French 1, plus the cavalry set up for the big show!

Which goes awesome for me, I loose an infantry unit who was caught in line, but break, all 3 French cav! Sadly a French attack breaks a unit out of my line.

In the end i loose 1/3 of my force, I try a desperate charge up the hill to see if I can also break the French. But poorly, and never really had an advantage to start.

So its a win for the French but pretty close, they were unit or 2 from breaking as well.

In the end new Lasalle has a few annoying bits, but its very fast and easy. Hardly any special rules or restrictions ect... The biggest problems of old Lasalle are fixed as well. So I'd say I'm more then happy to play this game.

As 7sual pics of the other great games:

Medium small scale battling across a river

Small small scale also across a river

Finally big scale across a river.

Was there some kind of river memo I didn't get?? Hah

Thanks;

Mike

Battle Report - Battletech!

 Hello Folks,

Time for battletech! Finally got around to playing some Clan Invasion era vatyketech with the new plastics.

Today we have Clan Jade Falcon invading an Inner Sphere weapons testing facility up to their old games.

I took an Adder a Nova. The Inner Sphere defended with Marauder, Archer, Shadow Hawk, and Thunderbolt.

We are just more or less playing a scenario from the DFA wargaming group which amounts to 10 turns of big stomp robot murder!

Turn 1, for advancing and declaring duels. The adder starts a duel with the marauder, placing a ppc shot very near him ti get things going. My nova flies up in the mountain and duels the shadow hawk.

Not much to report turn 2, the sphere are keeping with the duels, for now... Meanwhile the combats pile shots into each other, or in the case of the inner sphere they try their best...

By turn 3 thing are getting interesting up in the mountains! The Nova finds himself in a three against one situation. But my adder pilot is enjoying his duel and is not really bothered.

Turn 4, more brawling mostly. The archer tries to interfer in the duel but mostly misses, so no harm no foul.

Turn 5 the adder is feeling the heat a bit and the hits are adding up. The Nova is having a grand old time flying around and giving out fitfully of lasers however, these guys have lots of armor.

Turn 6 the adder has had about enough and places a ppc shot neatly into the marauders head, done deal. How ever the guys down swinging destroying my left torso and arm, hmm...

Turn 7 explosions rock the camera as the clan mech is destroyed.

Last 2 turns we have some annoying falls, and in a particularly bad run of luck the Nova takes a sensors hit. I forget when this happened but it was towards the end.

By the formal rules of combat we both have a mech destroyed, and without sensors the Nova is technically crippled! So a minor win for the sphere,  and some unhappy clanners!

Was great to play some battletech after many years, surely more games to come.

Thanks;

Mike

Painting Update - Battletech

 Hello All,

Painted a few more mechs, going to try out a small game this afternoon so lots of interest in battletech again.

Summoner & Something:

First pair is a summoner on the right one of the classic Jade Falcon mechs. Forget what the chap on the left is.

Shadow Cat & Mistlynx:

Next up a shadow cat and mist lynx, couple more lighter mechs.

Elementals:

Final bit for today a few more points of battle armor to give me a full unit of 5.

This brings me up to a full trinary of clan stuff now, with 10 mechs and 5 battle armor! Eagerly waiting for wave 2 of the kickstarter.

Battle Report - Club Day Saga

 Hello Folks,

Thr club is back! Thus week was some more Saga: Age of Magic.

I decided to take some high elves, using the sapphire elves Great Kingdom option. Facing off against Duncans Other World.

We did the random battle option, skipping terrain as i had just set up the few licenses i had. We got:

Pincer attack
Unknown length
Forced March
Show of force

Basically the armies March out and flank each other and have a fight out. Points for surviving, winning fights, and crossing the board.

Here is the setup. Packed into the corners, the mat I have is a bit smaller then required. I guess I should get a new cigarette mat as they are convinenient fir the club.

Othrrworlds get the first turn, but can't do much do to being slowed down from the missions rules.

Similar thing for me, but I move out a bit and fir off the war machine.

Turn 2 things change allot! The other worlds take advantage of flying and manouver all over, getting in close and grabbing the points for getting to the edge.

I pushed up a bit, trying to put some fatigue  on the avatar, and getting my mounted unit ready to head to the edge.

Demonic close up, the guy who's a a druk banging his own head cracks me up!

Turn 3 the demons unleash, charging lots of times with hunters, who are warriors that can charge 12 and get 2 attacks! They do big damage to both my archers and hearthguard, back take some damage in return.

I fire cabk with some really lucky shooting. Knocking out the avatar and cleaning a unit. Also able to grab the edge points and come back with the knights.

Otherworlds bring in their flyers, killing my mage which is not great.

I'm able to counter with hearth guards thou and keep in the game. Also charge my knights to kill some hunters before they could charge.

Otherworlds not going diwn without a fight, killing the warmachine. Really spreading allot of fatigues around my tight formation.

Last ditch attempt to kill the demonic warlord with a knight, but sadly he passed his saves. No luck with archery either.

In the end it was pretty close on bonus points, but I was clearly ahead on survival so it was a hard fought win for the elves!

Great to have the return of the club.

As usual here's a few shots of the other games:

Mike

Painting Update - Pulp

 Hello Folks,

Got another little painting project done. This time some pulp type stuff I picked up from crooked dice and cold-wars awhile back. My intention was to go for an Indiana Jones type thing in the Congo, but somehow haven't guide accomplished that.

Doug Ford's 800 lbs Gorilla:

Really big gorilla to lead the monkeys, painted him white kind of like the gorillas in the Congo movie.

Gorillas:

Some regular old gorillas.

Britannia Job:

I picked up this set as I thought they were old timey pilots, turns out no its a team of motorcycle theifs. So not sure what they will do, but fun to paint and turned put cool!

Investigators:

Then I have an investigator with the necronomicon for some reason, and Jessica rabbit? Gone a bit of the rails here.

Ships Crew:

Felt like I needed some good guys minions, these seemed to fit the best?

So this is all the Pulp stuff I have at the moment, kind of end up with a bit of  king kkng set hah. They are fun to do probably will add more at some point.

Painting Update - Botwars

 Hello Folks,

Finally time for the first post of the year. Guess I have been a bit slower on the painting side since the break. Partly just taking it easy, and I think partly because allot of the motivation this time of year is getting ready fir cangames, and there's none of that sadly.

Anyway finished of my Christmas project of Dinobots!

Here's the full group for the thumbnail. Pretty pleased with hiw they turned out, like the yellow and orange guys the best. Least happy with the blue, which is interesting ascthay should be much easier to do.

T-Rex type guy. I forget the bot wars names, but not really important I guess.

Teradactyl and brontasarus guys.

And the close combat guys.

Took awhile to do, but was allot of fun. Hopefully will get to give the game a go at some point.

Next up I'm planning to do some orc ships, and a sprinkle of Indiana Jones type guys.

Bought: 20 got tempted into some star wars legion
Painted: 5
Total: -15
